Fasano over Marcus McNeil?

I'm just glad people said that about our OC in '94.

They can keep Aikman and Emmitt.. just give me their OC!!

Meanwhile we kept lighting it up on offense for a couple more years.. and the team that got Norv? Well..

You're comparing having 2 Hall of Fame players at 2 of the most important positions in football to a rookie and sophomore at OT and OLB?

For the 3 MILLIONTH time there was no way we picked a tackle with a pre existing spinal condition; NOT after the mess with Rogers. He was NOT on our board. Keep on beating the very dead horse.

Dead horse?

You mean someone brought this up before?

hmm...our defense is almost the sole reason we arnt playing this weekend, and yet people want to complain (again) about passing on an OL with a spinal condition that black listed him off a number of teams draft boards

I don't know Rack... Flo was pretty bad in some games as well as Rivera. Rivera was the sole reason we didn't make that 3rd and 1 play with Marion Barber in the Seattle game.. he got pushed aside like a ragdoll.

Flo was bad early on, which was expected (by me anyway) since he was coming off the injury. But mid to late in the season, he was fine.

yeah I didnt see Adams causing many problems...and almost nobody wants to acknowledge that he's barely a yr past ACL surgery when they talk about him

he is probably the least of the worries

fix the damn defensive coaching people...not that hard to see really

Can't disagree with ya there. Coming off an injury like that, it would obviously take him some time to get back to full form.

Add that to Steven Jackson :bang2:

Yep - lets let Parcells stay and bring in more Kosier's and Rivera's and Spears etc...

A 2nd round pick with no impact=A Farse-ano.
Duane wants to re-create his NYGints teams so bad he drafts look alike players.

and he was cleared by virtually every NFL team.

He was cleared to play, but he was still a risk. The chances that he could seriously hurt his spine were greater given his condition.

He was never considered a sure fire first rounder despite the injury.

I disagree. Guys like Gosselin, Kiper, and many other draft experts had him in the first round early on in their mock drafts and the common problem he had according to the experts was his spinal condition.

How this turned into a debate in how many games he could of helped Dallas win is beyond me. How many games did Fasano help us win? In can be argued OL is in worse shape then TE

To act like Fasano was a bad pick is beyond me personally.

If you really want to argue over a bad pick, take a look at our second round pick in 2005 where we wound up taking Kevin Burnett over Khalif Barnes who has been a good starting left tackle with the Jags for the past two seasons.

Naaa, he isn't playing today and it doesn't fit into the "I wish we had every player we don't have" thread of the day.

You know, this thread would actaully have more validation, if our RT, gave up huge amount of sacks, and was benched during the season.

But yet..... thats not true

We have a solid RT in Columbo, who has played stellar all year........ we pick Mcneil, we just lost on a talent

Monday morning QBs. Wow. It's easy to say "we should have" now... but he is a big injury risk. That's a high pick to lose if the guy has his career cut short. Whether you like it or not, the Cowboys are/were in a position where they need to take guys who are likely to contribute and grow with the team and not shoot for stars (with 1st day picks). That said, I fel then..and still sorta do...that skipping Stephen Jackson wasn't very smart. He was a "sure thing" and JJ was not.

Hypothetical: if Sean Peyton coached the Cowboys this year (and probably started ROmo from game 1) and BP coached the Saints, would the results been the same? I don't think it's a stretch to think guys like Colsten and other rookies would have got less playing time?

I saw several games late in the season where Flozell's man completely ran around him, under him, beside him, it was horrible. Flozell needs to be replaced and I hope McQuistan is the one to do it.

Kosier, was not that bad in my opinion, but he's not studly. If you can replace him with someone studly, then do it, if not, he's fine where he's at.

Rivera has to go, period. This guy is a penalty machine and gets pushed more than a grocery basket. Columbo was pretty darn good this year, actually surprising, and Gurode was surprising as well.

All 3 of those positions need an upgrade, or atleast 2 of them. I can actually live with Flozell if we can't lose him, but he will need help when we play against fast Ends.

I could care less if Fasano ever catches a pass, he needs to learn how to block. He had 2 blocks that I can remember, where the guy came straight at him, and he didn't even touch the guy.

I would've drafted McNeill because we've flopped in the 2nd round before, so who cares if it didn't work out. You take chances on great players, unless it's in the first round. Rogers and McNeill have nothing to do with one another, those are 2 different people, 2 different scenarios.

that's bs....we draft who we want to draft...Newman had a "shoulder situation"...people "shied away from him"....we wanted him we drafted him. Look, Fasano is here because Parcells likes TEs and becausee of the Charlie Weiss connection....and the bottom line is we NEEDED a Tackle....he was there for us to draft AND we went the other way. It wold not be so bad if Fasano was a baller...but he is not and NEVER will be. He is not powerful enough to be a great blocker....he is not fast enough to beat the majority of the LBers and S in the NFL...this was just a horrendous pick, along with ALL THE OTHER 2nd round picks that Dallas has drafted in recent memory..do these names ring a bell

Solomon Page
Dwayne Goodrich
Quincy Carter (at least he went to the playoffs, BUT he had a KNOWN drug problem in college)
Tony Dixon
Andre Gurode (who Bill PROBABLY had to CONVINCE to keep around, but he has been decent)
Antonio Bryant
Al Johnson (who had a knee condition when we drafted him..was undersized when we drafted him...yet all I hear Parcells complain about was his lack of size)
Jacob Rogers - who was a walking MASH unit when we drafetd him
Kevin Burnett - who had knee issues throughout college, but did not stop us from drafting him, not as productive as 2nd round LBers that have come before him (Randal Godfrey, Dexter Coakley)
JuJo - I'm ok with this pick, but as long as we keep trying to make him a feature back, our run game will always suffer, ESPECIALLY when you consider we could have drafted Steven Jackson
And Lastly Fasano!!!!!!!!!1

We might as well trade out of the 2nd round every year

Maybe if a few years had passed since the Rogers mess the boys might have taken McNeal; but coming the draft after it there was NO WAY. The draft is risky enough with adding extra factors. And anyone who does not know about that spinal condition and how serious it is really has no business commenting.
