I gotta be honest, I crack up everytime I read that Fasano is a Bavaro clone.. I mean, come on, people are just saying that cause he is a TE from Jersey drafted by Parcells.. I mean, if Witten was from Jersey, would people be calling him a Bavaro clone? cause as far as body types and catching and blocking and everything, most tight ends fit the "Bavaro" description.. we are calling him a Bavaro clone, and to me Bavaro is one of the best tight ends of all time.. he needs to do a lot more than just be from New Jersey to fit that description if you ask me..

For what it's worth, my draft guide describes McQuistans's twin brother as a "Jason Fabini clone".

Its more than just the jersey and Parcells ties. Bavaro also played for Notre Dame, and Fasano does look like the spitting image of him in that uniform.

Yeah the Bavaro comparisons are a little premature.

Although a rival, he was the one player I always worried about on those Giants teams. They had a great D and a steady rushing attack, a good QB, but Bavaro was the guy that could break a game open.

This already battered TE has a slim chance of being mentioned at the end of his career as being "like Bavaro".

thats funny.. so now we have Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, Mark Bavaro, Richard Seymour, and two Jason Fabinis..

now the question is, when are they gonna start calling Skyler Green our Dave Meggett?

To be fair, Campbell to Leinart is a much more realistic comparison than Fasano to Bavaro.

I think he went to the DMV to get his name changed officially today....

Can we pick up one player without making some kind of ex Parcells player comparison.

Come on son.

I dont know the thread you are speaking of, but I could see how someone would want to compare.

Tell me again about the 30 yard ...

Dont speak again, you will be doing this board a service.

Is making comparisons or using a frame of reference a new phenomenon that started with Fasano? As far as I know, all fans have been doing it since the begining of time and will continue to do so. Reggie Bush reminds people of Tony Dorsett. Vince Young reminds some people Randall Cunningham. Lendale White reminds some people of Curtis Ennis. Big Whoop.

Here's another good one.

I'm getting tired of all the "draftniks" dogging Rocky McIntosh's size, saying he's too small to be a standout LB in the NFL. I don't think this is true and found stats on another linebacker who a lot of so called "experts" once thought was too small to play LB in the NFL...Tedy Bruschi. McIntosh is listed in an earlier post on this site as 6-2, 236. I went to the official Patriots website for Bruschi's size, he's listed there as 6-1, 247. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but if McIntosh hits the gym and puts on 11 lbs of muscle before next year, he'll be slightly bigger than Bruschi.

If you haven't seen Fasano play you don't appreciate him. He is very athletic and a tough, Italian kid who gives it his all. I like him a lot!

I can only hope he's something like former ND and NY Giant player, Mark Bavaro, one of my all-time, non-Cowboy favorites. As Parcells told an assistant coach one time..."#89 doesn't say anything. He's a killer."

I agree, CA... Bavaro was one of the meanest, toughest, baddest SOBs I've ever seen.

Besides his dominating play on the field, I remember some cool story about how his high school didn't have enough weights for him to squat with, so they bored out some manhole covers for him to add to the bar.

If Fasano is half as good as him, we'll have a good player.

Fasano was being compared to Bavaro long before we drafted him. CNNSI said Fasano was a "spitting image" of Bavaro during his sophomore season, and that might not have been the first time anyone said that. Bavaro went to Notre Dame, too, you know.

That's what I thought

Perhaps I should break out the definition of zone-blocking again?
