I agree, CA... Bavaro was one of the meanest, toughest, baddest SOBs I've ever seen.

Besides his dominating play on the field, I remember some cool story about how his high school didn't have enough weights for him to squat with, so they bored out some manhole covers for him to add to the bar.

If Fasano is half as good as him, we'll have a good player.

Wholeheartedly agree CL! I loved Bavaro!

He was the ultimate tough guy, who just did his job and yet was an extremely good, productive TE.

They all talk about Ronnie Lott as one of the toughest hitters of all-time, but who can ever forget Bavaro running over Ronnie Lott and carrying him like a rag doll down the field at Candlestick one Monday Night?

when are they gonna start calling Skyler Green our Dave Meggett?

Wait til you see Skyler Green move with the ball. I dont think Meggett could catch Green in a footrace if you tied Green's shoelaces together. I heard Corby on KTCK talk about his trip to see his Sooner play LSU in the National Championship game. He said all he heard over the stadium speaker all game was, "Catch by Skyler Green" and "return by Skyler Green." He left saying, "I will never ever forget the name Skyler Green."

I gotta be honest, I crack up everytime I read that Fasano is a Bavaro clone.. I mean, come on, people are just saying that cause he is a TE from Jersey drafted by Parcells.. I mean, if Witten was from Jersey, would people be calling him a Bavaro clone? cause as far as body types and catching and blocking and everything, most tight ends fit the "Bavaro" description.. we are calling him a Bavaro clone, and to me Bavaro is one of the best tight ends of all time.. he needs to do a lot more than just be from New Jersey to fit that description if you ask me..

Actually Draft Insiders have a portion, where they even name the current or former NFL player whos game most simbolizes the rookie, and they have Mark Bavaro listed as that player for Antony Fasano. He is supposed to be the best blocking TE in this draft, and while he is a great reciever, he is not a strech the field type of TE like most TE's are these days.

According teh Frank Coyle of Draft Insiders, he is similar to former Notre Dame star Mark Bavaro in size, athletcism, and blocking ablility.

OK, OK.. you guys have convinced.. some good support as to why the comparison has merit.. its just that when I hear "clone", i think of football skills and physical talent.. but you guys have supported this and also the Notre Dame connection and that he is the spitting image.. so I change my tune..

but I still stand by my notion that they are gonna start calling Skyler Green our Dave Meggett just cause he is a Parcells return specialist..

Come on son.

I dont know the thread you are speaking of, but I could see how someone would want to compare.

Tell me again about the 30 yard ...

Dont speak again, you will be doing this board a service.

:lmao:

Both of you should never speak again. If you're concerned about the board, shut up.

Same goes to the 30 yard slant boy.

I guess in a way the things he does like block, receive, and get open he could be a possible Bravaro...

Chris Berman and Corey Chavous said that this tight end is compared to Bravaro....:starspin

Actually, this quote comes from Pat Kirwan's article from the Senior Bowl in January.

SKYLER GREEN, wide receiver, LSU. Green tweaked a hamstring during the Jan. 24 practice -- I saw him do it running a slant route in the individual period. I asked him why he kept practicing when we got together after practice, and he said he felt he just had to push through the pain. It's a typical reaction from a young man trying to prove he belongs in the NFL. He didn't practice on Jan. 25 or 26, so being smart is something he has to learn. When I asked a few of the South team defensive backs who were the difficult receivers to cover, they all mentioned Green. It's already a given that he's a terrific return man for special teams, but what was interesting to me was what one NFL coach said about Green. He thought the best way to get production out of Green was to train him to be a "Dave Meggett third-down running back." I agree, and even though he's short, he is strong and has some toughness to pick up a blitz.

U know since BP arrived i can say this is the year were we have all players he needs ..in the past we missing one player here or there i have strong feeling about this year.. i like the team already unlike befor..not only we have good players we have depth and this 2 tight ends formation gonna be good help to our offense it is a smart move it will hide some weakness we might have in OL
You think 2 TEs are gunna hide the weak link. More likely we will have to have 7 Olinemen on the fiels and release 2 recievers. The 2 TE's are just 2 more Olinemen. Instead of draft or signing Olinemen that would allow the TEs to release and flood zones with open receivers we went the back door route and are flooding our backfield with blockers. The 2 TEs are a sign that the braintrust knows thay dont have an oline and want the max protect at all times cause they dont want that stick of lit dynamite blowing. jones had to have his splash move in el dorado and Parcells had to have his D. Lets see if our Oline can hold up to that pressure and make it all work. Ignoring the weakest link on your team and bolstering an already strong enough link is not the way to make an average at best team at least average to good. We may be better, but we have as much chance to be spinning our wheels and maybe even getting worse.

You can look at it anyway you want too. To me this move smacks of desperation. the boys knew they needed a lack luster draft of unglamorous positions. They wanted the big names that makes headlines. They got what they wanted, we will see if its what we needed or not. I would not want to be Fabini or Kosier this year. They will be under pressure to perform at a level they have never performed at, all year long.

Or maybe that the braintrust is living in the 21st Century NFL, while Cowboy fans are still living a decade behind. Its time to wake up, rub the sleep out of your eyes and look around the league. 14 TE were selected before the first FB was taken in this draft. The NFC representative for fullback in the Pro Bowl was Chris Cooley. The 2 TE is the NFL norm now. New England and Colts have been using it as their base offense for almost a decade, and I seem to remember them having some pretty good offensive lines the past few years.

Didn't Jerry basically allude to your point Inman? He said something about changing our offensive philosophy from the days of Emmitt, Irvin, Aikman and Moose.

Now, if we can just find that trigger man, like Brady, Manning, Big Ben, or Palmer. If we can address that spot, we can compete with the elite!
