This was not an aggressive decision. It was a stupid decision.

The refs missed that call bad. The blocker held and threw the rusher into the kicker.

i don’t have any problems with that. You can’t be too predictable.

4th and 20 you have no problem with giving them the ball back rather then giving Dak a shot in the last 2 mins of the half ?

After listening to the PC I don’t think Fassel’s awareness is very high. He has a one track mind. He might be a very book smart intelligent coach but his ‘street’ smarts and ability to take a second and rethink is very low.

Coaches hate interview questions about their decision making. They would prefer to simply agree with the interviewers narrative or come up with some smart*** comment. The only people who get the absolute truth is the head coach and the GM.

Most likely, they thought they detected some flaw in the protection but it wasn't there on that play. It could have been a Cowboy player that didn't follow through on his assignment. Fassel isn't going point out what he thought he saw and he isn't going to throw any player under the bus. He knew his answer was absurd.

I never said it was smart. I just said him calling it doesn’t give the player a pass on the penalty.

I like his aggressive nature but you need talented/disciplined players to pull it off. Which is obviously why he fights so hard to get his guys like Greg and when we were linked to Hekker.

You can accept mistakes like this in a week 2 but too often with the Cowboys you'll see stuff like this in week 15-17 or even playoffs when it truly matters.

I don't want play it safe coaching. Equally, I don't want a bonehead doing stupid **** that has no strategic justification.

It's hard to believe a pro NFL coach would concoct such a lame excuse for his own mistake. He must be nuts, senile or just plain stupid.

I think running into the kicker is one if one of the worst penalties that can be committed. The defense has just made a stop and the offense is going to get the ball, save for a fumble on the return. Total momentum shift.
