No, did he miss or something? Are you calling me out about this?
Seems you are offended that a fan said he is concerned over an unproven K, until he proves himself.

Excuse me for having an opinion that is not negative at all.
No, I just thought it was funny what he did after being a draft pick for Cleveland.

Gotta think that Aubrey was the Cowboys plan A all along, but they just had to wait for his season in the USFL to end before signing him. Vizcaino was just a place holder. Aubrey's performance in the USFL: 14/15 field goals (93.3%), 35/35 PAT conversion (100%.) He missed one kick all season.

Those are some really good stats.

yeah, they obviously hitched their wagon to Aubrey and will be going with him. No other options. We shall see how this turns out.
There are going to be tons of options after cuts if they need to go that direction

He did look very good when I saw him play live.

He did miss in the playoffs, though. either a FG or PAT, I can't remember which.

I am curious if he'll get better at the long-range kicks the more he settles into being a FG kicker. Although he's been working to become one for a few years now, it's difference when you are paid every day to be one. If it becomes his career, he can work on the nuances of the position. I think that's one of the things Dallas likes about him, he's just learning how to do this so the bar is high. Of course, they probably mostly like that he's cheap.

For all of those who've been wringing their hands and knashing their teeth about the K situation, some even seeming angry that Aubrey's been given this full-on shot to claim the job...

Here's what you're missing, but don't feel bad, so is virtually everyone else...

Worst case scenario, the next best option isn't on the street right now anyways... by almost any way you want to measure it, the next best option is in camp with the Chargers right now. They have the luxury of having two of the better 2022 Ks in the league. One of them... probably Dustin Hopkins (not to be confused with Rain Man Dustin Hoffman, of course :) )... is going to be cut. There's been an undisclosed injury keeping him off the practice field for most of training camp, but he's apparently back now, though probably too late to challenge Cameron Dicker.

How much sway does a key postseason miss hold? Dicker was 3-4 in the playoff loss to Jacksonville where the Chargers lost by a point, and the miss was from the 40-49 range.

I just know I will be extremely nervous on every kick until he proves himself.
Just like every other K we had for the past 30 years.
I won’t be nervous at all. As part of being a super-fan , bereft of any negativity, I KNOW that we will be so far ahead of any and all competition. All games will be won by a blowout and actually playing in the Super Bowl is a mere formality. Every player we have is the best in the league and we are unstoppable.

Ahh…..the pure smugness of being a super-fan. ……..basking in my new found virtue

Bones may have faith in him and that’s fine. We all have our pet peeves, but to rely on him when we have a chance to actually make a run to the Super Bowl in my opinion it’s just ludicrous, insane and stupid judgment saying all that though don’t see anyone out there right now that we could put on the roster felt like they should’ve dug deeper when they had people that were available. hopefully this won’t come back to bite us in the butt. I would hate to be in the NFC championship game in our kicker misses the field goal to win the game. This board work implode explode, and people would be on suicide watch lol.
Well, if he misses a 63 yarder that's one thing, but Cowboy nation will implode if he misses a 32 yarder in the dying seconds, and we lose.

It's always great to hear that our young kicker is impressing those who count the most, like Fassel, for instance.

He'll be watched intensely the rest of the preseason. He's obviously doing what he needs to do to be our starter.

I'm more than willing to let Aubrey continue to kick during TC and the PS. I really hope we get him plenty of opportunities to kick. I hated seeing him miss the XP last game. I felt he was kicking well up to that point. He said he was told by the coaches to get the operation done a little quicker....he simply went too fast. We'll have to see if he can adjust. Love the leg strength and talent. We'll see.

If not. As a previous poster said....there are always vet kickers available after cuts.

Every kicker has been in this position at one time or another. An established veteran isn't the only option or the best in most situations. Like Vanderjagt! Fans seem to think you're just going to have a hall of fame kicker readily available or clamor for a guy like Robbie Gould.

"I've seen growing confidence in the operation, and he's really shown great professional attributes as far as preparation, his plan, his work ethic and then obviously his talent," Fassel said. "I'm excited about these next couple of games and seeing what he's got, because I think he's got some game."

These types of comments never mean anything.

Coach gets asked, "how about that new kicker?" When is the coach ever gonna say, "I get indigestion just thinking of him needing to make a 45 yarder with the game on the line.

They always, always spin positive.

I've seen coaches work around the question or they could just cut him if they don't like him, like they did with Vizcaino. I don't see any reason not to believe Fassel at this time. Now, if Aubrey misses a couple of field goals against Seattle, and Fassel says that he has confidence in him, I'd say he's just trying to build him up while they wait to see who is available.
