True but I do think we go oline early 2-3You can say that about every position on the team.

I agree. They will get a guard before a running back.True but I do think we go oline early 2-3
Love Avila and I could see him at 26I agree.
OL is a priority need still.
Even if you figure Tyron at LT and Tyler at LG, how much do you really expect to count on Tyron?
I love the guy, one of my fav Cowboys ever, but to count on him all season is foolish. I get we have Edoga who could fill in at LG with Tyler going back to LT in the likely event Tyron goes down, but a long term solution would be ideal.
To your point of G/C, I love Steve Avila from TCU. I think he'd likely be able to move to a starter at G quickly, the next year (when Tyler B, is a FA), we have some flexibility as he can play C too. Avila is a road grader, I LOVE the idea of him at LG and Tyler at LT long term. He's likely a 2nd rounder, but I doubt he lasts to 58. I actually like the idea of trading down from 26 and getting more assets.
I ran a mock recently, moved back several times, got Avila at like 50, then Ika at 58. With multiple 3rds and 4ths I grabbed Jack Campbell, Sam Laporta, Kyu Blu Kelly, Marvin Mims and Tank Bigsby. Ultimate haul and highly unlikely but fun nonetheless.
I think I’d go guard over RB. No matter how good a RB is, he needs holes to run throughI agree. They will get a guard before a running back.
I wouldn’t play any rookie but at one position no matter how much skill they have, except Micah lolOnly issue I have with a OG that can play C, is that dreaded position flex. That can screw up a rookie, no matter how smart they say he is. Seen it happen too many times.
I rather they draft a LG and put him there to stay and learn. They seem to like Farniok, so let him play more back up C and groom him to take over if Biadasz does not return. As well since he has already played some at OG, he does not need to spend all his time their.
Agree .....this is what happens when you strike out on CWilliams, McGovern, Ball, and the multiple UDFA linemen they have signed. Martin won't be around much longer and the jury still out on Biadasz ... not only do they need linemen, but they gotta hit on the picks. So it is a major problem area on the team.So a bandaid for a year or two, if they actually sign that guy. And what do they do next season when Tyron retires, and steele and Biadasz are UFA's? We are basically looking at a situation next season where all we have is an aging Martin and Tyler Smith.
Honestly, its a dire situation and easily the #1 need on the football team. I know many fans get caught up in the skill positions, but everything I have learned about the offense centers around the Oline. Without a top Oline, you might as well fold up shop.
When other teams paid Williams and McGovern good money to leave in free agency, can they be considered ‘strike outs’?Agree .....this is what happens when you strike out on CWilliams, McGovern, Ball, and the multiple UDFA linemen they have signed. At OT:Any lineup that has Chuma Edoga starting at left guard is a bad one in my opinion.
Chaz Green vibes.
2022 Starters:Dallas seems to allocate more first round picks or other premium picks on the OL than any other team. Maybe I'm overlooking a few, but they have to be near the top. After all that, each year in the draft I hear that they have pressing needs on the OL.
I guess the one differentiator is that Dallas doesn't sign outside free agents to big contracts on the OL (really, any position).
It's just strange to look at the draft capital they use for interior OL vs. DL.
At OT:
I would be somewhat worried about Edoga.
At OG:
I think he should be fine as a pass blocker.
Probably decent as a zone run blocker.
Maybe not powerful enough for pure man blocking.
He is just 1 or about 3 options at LG that they have now, before the draft.
The Offensive line is the most critical position group on a team in my opinion. DAK might agree with that also. We always seem to be behind regarding the offensive line. To say nothing of the contract extension given to good, not great Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil for 3 years $75 million.I'd much rather draft OL than go the FA route
Orlando Brown 4 yr $64 M
Jawaan Taylor 4 yr $80 M
Jasom Kelce 1 yr $14.5 M
Mike McGlinchey 5 yr $87.5 M
Ben Powers 4 yr $52M
Yeah, the good teams and coaches like the Chiefs, Bengals, and Payton with the Broncos made sure to solidify their offensive lines. Just shows how important they think it is.To say nothing of the contract extension given to good, not great Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil for 3 years $75 million.
I still think WR Flowers would be smart, at the top for Dallas.Yes, the C-boys will be missing OL help that they sorely need. This is what occurs when the FO isn't open to signing quality vet FAs.
Agreed. Ball was the swing and a miss. Williams turned out to be what his grade was “average starter”When other teams paid Williams and McGovern good money to leave in free agency, can they be considered ‘strike outs’?
