I expected Memphis to win a game or two at home. They are a pretty good team. As a Mavs fan I was pissed off at the stupid seeding system, but Memphis definitely got screwed over by it more than any other team. They could have handled Denver as well as the Clippers did.

They have also gotten lucky enough to play the Spurs (NBA Champs), Phoenix and Dallas. Those are very good teams and the Griz are still trying to get to that level. I'm not going to make an excuses for them. They got swept and need to rethink what they are doing.....IMO the first thing they need to do is fire Fratello.

I honestly believe whichever team wins this San Antonio vs. Dallas series is gonna go all the way and represent the West in the Finals. The Clippers match up well against the Spurs, but I can't see them or the Suns beating the Spurs/Mavs in a 7 game series.

I agree. Not taking anything away from the Mavs but they did get the easiest playoff opponent. The Kings were a heck of a lot better than most #8 seeds. When Bonzi Wells and Ron Artest put their off the court problems behind them and play some str8 up hoops, it's scary.

It's called playing Defense. I know Mavs fans aren't really used to seeing tough playoff defense, but it's what wins championships.

Dallas gets called for fouls when they guard Duncan because they obviously flail away and hack at his arms.

Bowen takes great pride in playing in-your-face without using his hands. He gets in the other player's face and makes him uncomfortable, he often gets called for too much contact, but by not hacking at a guy's arms, he makes it difficult for the refs to blow the whistle in crunch time.

What it comes down to was Dirk was too afraid to take a shot over a guy who he's 6 inches taller than. If he would have driven to the hoop and put up the shot, 9 times out of 10 he'll get the call. But just because he dribbles the ball into Bowen, he's not going to get the line for something as cheap as that.

They didn't score a freaking basket in the last 4 minutes, and they're crying about one call in the last 10 seconds? What, did Bruce Bowen single-handedly keep them from scoring a hoop from 3:51 on? In fact, the only points they got in that time were from foul calls, so don't go claiming you didn't get any calls.

Go re-watch those last 4 minutes. The game was there for the Mavs taking, and they choked on the opportunity.

And on the final play, when Dallas got the ball into his hands near the top of the circle, he stumbled so quickly in the face of an onrushing second defender that he fired the ball to Jerry Stackhouse in the corner rather than waiting for Stackhouse to cut to the basket as coach Avery Johnson had intended the play to unfold. Manu Ginobili deflected the pass, and Stackhouse managed only a desperation heave from the corner that missed everything to end a compelling, competitive game between the two best teams in the West.

Give me a break... No one really set the world on fire in the 4th quarter. Guess how many points were scored... 16 by SA and 13 by Dallas. Both teams played good defense in the quarter that's all.

And getting two points from free throws hardly means that the refs were calling it both ways. Duncan gets touched and the refs blow the whistle. Dirk took it to the hole got slammed into by Horry and Bowen on either side, missed the layup and no call. Then Bowen on the last play.... btw you don't have to hack arms to get called for a foul. If a guy doesn't have his feet set and he bumps you, that's a foul. Bowen knows that refs don't like to call that in the end of the game, but that doesn't mean it's not a foul.

That's my main gripe with the NBA refs. They call games differently depending on the situation. If the game had been a blowout, that would have been a foul no doubt. Or if it had been in the first 3 quarters same thing.

Fact remains SA won (though if Stack had taken the ball to the hole it may have been different... I'm not blaming the refs in this game, it was there in the last possession, Stack messed up), but it's just one game. They're supposed to win at home. We'll be back, this series is far from over.

No one's behind Dirk... Terry is at the top of the 3 point line. And notice the bump Bowen gives Dirk as he's passing the ball off. He's jumping in the air to block the pass and bumps him down low. Still a foul, whether they call it in the last seconds of a game or not.
