Faulk tears ACL deal for Mankins?

We're not paying and Jerry can open the vault at least this year so money shouldn't be the issue.
It is an issue. Denying it is nonsense. Sooner or later Jerry would have to cut quality players to get under the cap. Right now he will not have to. They've managed this team perfectly as far as the cap. Why abandon it now?

After paying Davis a boatload of money. I think Jerry would be wary of paying a boatload of money to replace him.

I thought Jerry was begging on the streets for his next meal. Can he afford Mankins?

This would be a great deal if it were the offseason and we didn't know if we'd resign, or want to resign, Kosiar.

Right now with him and Bigg doing their jobs, for the most part, I can't see how you'd trade for him and then have to sign him to the huge deal he'd want. You'd have to start him then meaning that you'd be putting one of the guys doing their jobs on the bench.

We actually have running backs on the team? So those are the guys that stand behind the QB. I thought they were just in case Romo fumbles the snap so they can tackle the defender before he goes in for a TD.:laugh2:

People are generous with his money. Somehow it all pays off.

barber + incentive for mankins is perfect deal for us. moves our offense forward.

New England would never in a billion years make that trade.

1. Barber has a bloated contract.

2. Barber's best years are behind him. He's OK, but only marginally better than about 30-40 backs in...and outside the league.

3. Running backs are abundant...and unless they are utterly unique, GMs don't value them much.

Barber's worth, with that contract, is around a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

If the Pats are the model of a well-run organization, why do so many people want to give up our good players to sign one of theirs for more than the Pats themselves think he's worth?

Oh, right, Barron had a holding call at RT the weekend before last. Forgot.

Don't necessarily have to cut quality players, just guys you don't think are worth their money.

I mean, tough cap decisions are a part of football. I don't think it's wise to refuse to upgrade because sooner or later you will likely have to make a tough decision.

JMO. I don't think Jerry would sign the guy to a detrimental contract so I don't worry about what he gets paid. Jerry has shown that he will sign guys to contracts that are friendly to the team.

Mankins isn't coming to Dallas unless there is a miracle.

The sooner people accept it and move on, the better.

It's freaking Ty Law all over again only Nors is gone.

Mankins is a very good player, but just trying to sign the guy is not worth the effort or cost.

The Pats best RB left years ago and went to the Jets, some of you might remember Curtis Martin.

If we were to trade (doubt it happens) I think trading for a draft pick is much more likely. NE has a plethera of picks this upcoming draft. I think trading Barber makes this team better, gives Garrett less to get confused about ;). But on the other hand, it would probably come back to bite us when we played them in the Super Bowl, at home ;)

Trading Barber makes the team better ? By adding a player that you don't really need ?

Wow.

Wow.

Our backup RT had some holding calls against Washington a few weeks ago. Obviously, we need to trade a starter to NE for their discontented guard.

With the possible exception of Charles Haley it seems like Jerruh only makes the splashy trades for big-name weapons. Making a big trade for a proven O-lineman seems so far out of this teams character that I don't see it as possible. When we trade for O-linemen its always characters who have failed for their previous teams for various reasons and we take a chance on them. Proven superstar O-line players never seem to be brought in here, either through free agency, trade, or the draft. It's dissapointing and one of the things I dislike the most about Jerruh's acquisition philosophies.

In all fairness, Mankins was a LT and RT over his career, BEFORE he was an NFL player.

We've covered that. We don't care. We just want to trade for him because the illusion of progress is important to us.

Davis consistently grades out as our worst starting lineman, going back to last season. Just check out Broaddus's scathing comments.

IMO trading one of our stable backs for a proven tackle or guard would certainly be progress. But for me that's if they'd take Choice.

Moving an all-pro lineman into the weakest link of our team is an "illusion of progress."

Stupidest post of the day.

And who is "we." Are there two of you? A "legion" of you?
