I spend a lot of time driving for work purposes. I typically like to listen to sports talk radio when driving, in particular Cowboys sports talk and football in general, both college and professional.

Right now is a rough time for sports talk for me, because we are kind of in the football talk desert before training camps start. Most talk show station are discussing baseball the majority of the time. I don’t dislike baseball, but I’m not really into it either and don’t care to listen about it, nor do I watch many games.

All that being said, I was thinking this morning while driving to work about how I am looking forward to the “big 3” cowboys podcasts by dc.com to return. “Talkin Cowboys” “cowboys break” and “hangin with the boys”. I also have recently gotten into “locked on cowboys”. With marcus mosher.

I wanted to ask what Is everyones favorite cowboys podcast and why? I think my favorite is cowboys break. I like the crew of Nick Eatman, Derek eagleton, Ambar Garcia and Dave Helman the most I think. I feel like Helman and Eatman and Garcia aren’t afraid to call things like they see them.

Are there any other really good ones out there that I didn’t list? That are worth me subscribing to?

For me it is The Break. I can't listen to Mickey. Not for 1 minute. The Radio Scout, Broaddus, is ok in very small doses. I have really soured on him recently as he is arrogant with the callers and says the dumbest things. Listening to him navigate the draft is painful. Dave is a grouch and Nick is annoying but those guys are at least entertaining. Derek is a total pro so he keeps it together. I know Amber struggles with the English language and was forced upon the fans but I will tell you what - she is a tough critic. I find myself agreeing with her a lot. Have to check out the Locked On podcast.

Locked On Cowboys is my latest favorite.

Cowboys Huddle is ok, but they're kinda just starting out.

The Ocho is really good during the season.

These are two that I've never heard of before.

The Ocho is really good during the season.

I've really struggled trying to listen to the Ocho podcast, and I've tried more than once. I used to occasionally listen to the previous Blogging the boys podcasts but I can't seem to stay interested in the new ones.

I agree about Mickey, clueless homer 24/7. He brings down whichever show they stick him on. And Broaddus continues to struggle with allowing other people time to talk. He really needs to focus on that.

If I had to pick one right now, it would be the Break. I like how Eagelton keeps things together, despite his own homer tendencies, and Helman and Eatman, are pretty good and Garcia makes some good, critical points at times.

yep I agree. better during the season, used to be good. "The 750" is really difficult to listen to because Tony Casillas doesn't prepare and is dry.

one more: on Stitcher there is Best Coast Boys podcast - would be easier to get if they were on apple podcasts

Agree on Broaddus, his interruptions are constant. He will also repeatedly interrupt himself mid-sentence and not complete a thought. It should be a drinking game.

That could get dangerous!
:omg:

I like them all but Talkin Cowboys the best. I like to hear Broaddus school Spagnola.

if I was to watch one of them it would be the break broaddus is wind bag and mickey is condescending have pretty much stopped watch all their pod cast I feel like its kind a waste of time

Following.

I just upgraded my Sirius radio package to include NFL Radio, and two weeks in, I'm already sick of Brady Quinn and AJ Hawk's show.

I agree with you. For someone who's relatively new to broadcasting and never did anything at the NFL level, Brady Quinn sure likes to think he knows a whole lot.

I can't help but to feel that Sirius NFL Radio made some cutbacks to their staffing and pay, because it seems like the quality of broadcasters they now have has dropped significantly.

I'm now forced to put up with clowns like Charlie Weis in the morning and Brady Quinn afterwards.

:banghead:

I don't mind Hawk though because he's played in some big time games at least and has a Super Bowl ring.

The other day they were talking about the Dallas OL and he was describing in detail how much of a terrifying and humbling experience it is to be blocked by Tyron Smith

Nice to hear that they're not entirely wrong!

I’ll have to check our cowboys huddle.

If you haven’t checked out Locked on Cowboys yet. I recommend you do.

It has Marcus Mosher and Landon Mccool. MCcool
Is a bit of a homer (he also does the best coast boyz podcast). But I feel like Mosher evens out his homerism and they have pretty good debate. They also come up with good discussion topics.

Recently they just did their all cowboys 2010 decade team. And they had a 3 part podcast about advanced metrics like expected points. Which was kind of cool. Helps pass the time until training camp for sure.

I don't listen that often but .... i love her voice. It relaxes me. Have seriously thought about recording it and playing as i go to bed if i think i'm gonna have difficulty drifting off.

I think of Ambar sometimes when I’m in bed.

For a completely different reason though.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try to check it out. If I remember correctly, wasn't it McCool who was previously doing the blogging the boys podcast?

None.

Mickey is bought and paid for, so you might as well be listing to a season-ticket sales pitch. Broaddus is a weird dude. I once questioned him on Twitter about a pick, and he blocked me. LOL, I mean like right away. He's probably blocked thousands of people. Jeff Cavanaugh never takes a breath, loves the sound of his own voice and thinks he's an NFL personnel guy because he ate lunch with Broaddus.

Generally, football talk shows, especially on the NFL Network, are just clueless blather.

I actually heard a guy on ESPN radio this morning say that ":the Cowboys defense is so much better now, the offense will not be forced to score so many points." Uh, how many shootouts have the Cowboys been in lately?

The guys who know, can't speak, and the guys that can speak, don't know. That's your sports talk media today.
