Rally's was the parent company for that Redline place I worked at years ago. I was only native-English speaking person there. Everyone there was Spanish-speaking and had ESL as were most of the customers. I learned to take orders in Spanish. Got pretty good at it. It wasn't until the customers tried to go beyond the orders and have a conversation that I looked around for help. :p:

When you were talking about those places I was thinking they sounded just like Rallys.

I have not ate there in years but it was good when I did. Can not say if they are still doing well or not.

I like Burger King double whopper. Any burger that drips all over your hands is a good burger. The messier the better.

We have a chain called Rally's a bit away from us. When we go into Parkersburg we get those sometimes. Freshness is the key at Rally's. Lettuce that actually is crisp the whole way through and tomatoes that seems to be real home grown and not hot house.

While stationed in Texas I loved Whataburger.

White Castle and Crystal SUCKS!

We don't have Carls or in and out around our area.

I got some HUGE burger at Ruby Tuesdays once. Was ok I guess, nothing special other than the size of the thing. I don't remember but that thing had to be close to a pound of hamburger. Had to cut it in half to eat it and it took everything I had to eat it. Which is saying a great deal for me. I had it for lunch one day when we were on a business trip and did not eat until the evening of the next day.
Trust me then, you'd like Carl's Jr.

Dallas mentioned the Jalapeno six doller burger and I mentioned the bacon guacamole one. Theres also a portabello mushroom and western bacon version.

All of them get all over you.

We used to have Rally's here and I loved them.

I find 5 Guys to be overrated. The Burgers are fine, but the fries are so loaded with grease. They're delicious as you're eating them, but 5 minutes after you're done, you feel like you just drank a quart of Pennzoil.

It's funny that you bring up Mark Mosely, Silverbear. I didn't know he owned a part of 5 Guys, but he did have a restaurant, called Mark Mosely's, in Herndon about 10 years ago. They made great burgers, very similar to 5 Guys. But they had one major problem.

It was one of those places where you could watch them cook everything, and one of the cooks there was this huge transvestite. The guy was about 6'2", had long hair and long red fingernails and makeup, but otherwise looked about as feminine as Marc Columbo. It was unsettling to say the least.

I don't know if that was the reason the place went out of business, but it couldn't have helped. :D

If you're talking about a burger that you sit down and eat, it's damn hard to beat Fuddrucker's. Also, the Tillamook burger at Houlihan's is most excellent. Snuffer's burgers are good, but you really go for their cheese fries.

We just had 5 Guys tonight (because of this thread! :p: ) and the fries didn't seem greasy to me, and never have. Maybe they don't drain them well where you go.

Five Guys is the shizzle in NOVA, but the one down here in the valley has been a bit dissapointing...for whatever reason. Gotta drench those fries in vinegar.

I used to love the burgers and shakes at Rally's for the short duration I spent at school in Fredrock, Va...not sure if its still there though...the suburbs of DC have damn near stretched out to Richmond now and everything has changed.

...the Five Guys located in Springfield, VA made me the best fast food burger I've ever eaten though.

I do love me some Whataburger. I make it a point to stop by several times when visiting home in Phoenix, or when in town for a Cowboys game.

Good one - Fuddrucker's is awesome. Like how they have the salad bar set up so you can put as much and whatever veggies on it that you want.

As a bonus, it's also fun to trick people into mispronouncing the name. :D

1. Burger King's Whopper- nice charbroiled taste and burger doesn't have an artificial taste. It's the perfect size. It's big but not too big in which it tastes like meatloaf. Good french fries!

2. In/Out Burger- very natural taste in regards to everything. The bread is good, the veggies taste fresh, burger is good! Problems include the following: HYPE-there is so much hype about this place the line in the drive thru can last an hour ...no joke. It's good but not that good. I usually go late night to avoid the lines. Their fries are terrible too and the bread kind of crumbles but it has a very natural backyard taste.

3. Wendy's Classic Single- great taste but burger is TINY and is expensive. A true rip off. Too much mayo as well

4. Whataburger- Good burger but I've had bad experiences here. I would rank it #2 if not for the bad experiences. Be careful about going late night to this place. Sometimes the burgers can have an odor to them.

6. Carl's Jr.'s hamburgers(not the 6 dollar burger)-pretty good thick hamburger but has a cheap/artificia aftertaste and is very dry. In terms of pure meat, there is a lot of it and they don't rip you off in that department. I get the one with the jalapeno jack cheese and the guac; it's good. The gourmet or restuarant/6 dollar burger is way overrated in my opinion. It's their regular burgers that are just fatter, but it's not like it has a different taste or texture.

7. Sonic Hamburger- OVERRATED: they cost far more than they are worth, the meat is tiny and there is essentially no flavor (good or bad) to their hamburgers. They have a good texture in that the are not too dry. I will go there but not for their burgers but their onion rings, tater tots and drinks.

If you guys are in Oklahoma or Texas, I recommend Braums for hamburgers. I live in Phoenix and I miss those burgers so much. They were great. They are still the best hamburgers I've ever had and I've been to all the famous places for hamburgers including Hueys in Memphis.

Man, that was the first thing I missed when I moved to Houston. They don't have a Braums. I always thought their food was great, but I missed their ice cream the most. The Black Forest sundae. Yum.

I second that.

One thing I noticed about NE when my wife and I were there for a year - no choice in fast food. They have McDonald's, BK, Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell, Checker's (which I do miss)...uh...Subway...

Here, add those plus Jack in the Box, Braum's, Taco Bueno, Popeye's, Arby's, Whataburger, Dairy Queen, and Sonic. If you also consider there are very few choices for good BBQ up there, that's an even wider discrepancy.

I totally forgot about Braums since I only go to Oklahoma or Texas once or twice a year. Yes! They are the best fast food hamburger, without a doubt!

Say what? Gotta totally disagree here.

In and Out fries are the freaking GOLD standard for french fries. They use actual fresh potatoes, skin on. Some folks might be so used to frozen fries that they actually fail to recognize what a real live potato tastes like.

The lines are amazing but at most of the one's I've been to the staff is extremely efficient -- they pound that stuff out quickly and that turnover is what allows them to have fresh ingredients.
