Very good list...good to see another give Buddy Guy his due, man has some serious chops.

No doubt - I definitely see some true music lovers in this thread that know good music. Buddy Guy was a legend. Jimi Hendrix's idol was none other than Buddy Guy.

I also thought that Jon Frusciante went back the RHCPs

IMO, the best modern day guitar player alive...If I had one guy to compare my playing style to, it'd be John Frusciante . As I said, some of the best music ever is on "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and wasn't even played on mainstream radio - great album.

So many different types of music I like...so many different bands and songs...hard to chose one.

Hmm...

Strawberry Fields Forever...Just love that song even though I normally like heavier songs...it was just so ahead of it's time IMO (musically) and such a departure from the beatles earlier stuff.
Also Day Tripper, Revolution.

Some Zepplin songs - Maybe not the great classics Zep is known for..but I still love them...

What is and What should never be
Gallows Pole
Bron y aur stomp.

Love the Old Blues songs that take how bad a guy is to Mythic Levels like...

Hoochie Coochie Man
Who Do you Love
Mannish Boy
Boom Boom
Crawlin King Snake
Voodoo Chile

Then my harder edge likes a few songs by Slayer

Reign in Blood
Seasons in the Abyss
Born of Fire

Pretty much anything by CCR although I really like Fortunate son and born on the bayou.

Well...I could go on for hours lol...so I will just cut it short now.

BP...you got some great songs listed there.

CCR..."Born On A Bayou" pure balls....same with Fortunate Son...I have seen JC Fogerty live about ten times...

Strawberry Fields great also...ALOT of George Martin on that one. For being ahead of its time, I've always liked Good Vibrations...even though it IS the Beach Boys.

My other Beatle fav is "Oh Darling" for the same reason as "Born On A Bayou"...Name one other vocalist who can sing this Oh Darling AND Yesterday as McCartney did. And if ya go back to the old days, "Please Please Me" for it's PURE energy.

I've always liked "Heart of the Matter" by Don Henley...I've also seen him a number of times and it never fails, the entire audience sings this song with him...and after the first verse, everyone stands and claps..

Then there's Aerosmith...there are a few there...

Cavatina...the Theme from the Deer Hunter is great...

Oh that's right, it was supposed to be ONE song.

Is Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony a "song"?

my favorite guitarist

1 - Eric Clapton
2 - SRV
3 - Eddie Van Halen
4 - Jimi Hendrix
5 - BB King
6 - Carlos Santana

I like your list for guitarist'.....I would only add Buddy Holly to the list. He was insane on the guitar for his time.

More good songs...

Frank Sinatra -
Very Good year
Fly me too the moon
World on a string

:D

I went back through the posts to see if there were any other Coldplay lovers (love all their stuff, especially the acoustic versions of yellow, shiver, the scientist, and trouble ... and I love the Album versions of In my place, Yellow, Clocks and We never change)...

Anyway..I noticed your Frank Sinatra.. I love Frankie... I usually listen to either him or Coldplay when I'm stressed and needing to relax fast or get away in music...now that I think about it, I've had to do that a lot lately...lol :D

I would add to that list

I won't dance
Night and Day
The way you look tonight
Luck be a lady
Mack the knife

heck... I'd add them all... My Way, I've got you under my skin, NY NY, etc...

edit.... Oh and since everyone is adding their SRV favs... Traffic Jam w/ Carlos Santana... pure guitar heaven
