There's this belief that Favre is playing his best ball right now, which is largely true. But look at how he was playing prior to playing us last time around (2007), when we then sent him home early with a career-low QB rating of 8.9.

In the five games leading up to that game, Favre was 5-0 with 13 TDs and 2 interceptions over the stretch. He had thrown for 331-plus-yards in four of the five games. He went without throwing an INT in four of the games, and he entered on a three-game roll of 3 TD passes per outing. His QB ratings over the games were 142.4, 100.1, 115.4, 126.8 and 128.2.

Then he met Wade Phillips' defense, and completed 5 of 14 passes for 56 yards and two picks.

Different teams, different years, different venue and different decade (kinda). But point being: Wade has recently gone up against a red-hot Favre and easily sent him packing.

We'll see who gets the best of who Sunday.

Eerily similar stats. Though he took a beating against the Panthers. My biggest concern in this game is Adrian Peterson. He is perhaps the x factor that Favre didn't have in Green Bay. I believe he had Ahman Green at that time, but Green isn't in AP's league (not many backs are).

I suppose the good news is that we've held strong offenses to 20 points or less in the December run (Chargers and Saints), so I feel confident that our defense will rise to the occasion.

If this game falls on Favre's shoulders, he and the Vikings could be in trouble. They can't double both Spencer and Ware.

Good points, but Favre actually had Ryan Grant at that time. Grant had just taken over the primary running back duties in the first game of that five-game hot stretch for Favre. Grant's game-by-game numbers over those five games: 104 yards (4.7 ypc), 55 yards (2.9 ypc), 119 yards (4.8 ypc), 88 yards (4.4 ypc), and 101 yards (6.7 ypc).

Considering their wideouts were Driver, a young Jennings and a young James Jones who was catching fire for a brief stretch, their offense wasn't all that different from the Vikings' in terms of its explosiveness.
