I think they'd *rather* that Hunter worked out. Gives them more flexibility, and they already have 3 TEs long term to develop.

Also, there's a sleeper TE. Bostick for short yardage. Half his career til now was as a TE.
That's interesting. I didn't know. I liked one of his teammates as a TE, too. Noah Gindorff is an excellent blocking TE prospect. Can move for a big guy at 265.

2017 - As a tight end, Bostick Jr. started only FOUR games during his freshman season = 147 total snaps, caught 1 TD (v. Longhorns).
SIX YEARS AGO.
Competed - played the remaining 5 seasons at Kansas first as a starting RT - then a starting LT.
Finished his Jayhawks career with numerous Big-12 accolades & awards - both on the field and in the classroom.

Bottom line - the Cowboys picked Bostick Jr. to move him inside as an NFL guard.

Fant is an intriguing player. I just don't see how he fits? Too small for a true TE, and an H-back role is pretty narrow. Luepke might give you some of that too. Could he find a spot as the #6 WR? I like his athleticism.
Maybe Fant would have to be a Shannon Sharpe type TE/HB that t he is so exceptional as a receiver, imo

the type where he's virtually un-coverable in camp and preseason to make the strong impression that they have to keep him over a McKeon (who does so well blocking as an H-back formation)

'Half his career til now was as a TE.'
Misleading statement.
Earl Bostick Jr. spent his first 3 seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks as an inline tight end - BUT ONLY FOR 147 SNAPS TOTAL.
That many snaps *in games*. He practiced for 3 seasons at TE. They kept him at it for 3 years. I'm just looking for a guy who can block and run a 5 yard route. After 3 years, I bet he can handle that.

Rico hadn't even played football and they thought he was a TE.

You know truthfully,

the fact that training camp technically hasn't even started there hasn't been any scrimmages any padded practices any preseason games.

I really don't care who makes the team,

I want the best players to make the team and I don't care if it's a extra tight end or a fullback or a running back you don't keep positional players because you're worried about the numbers.

you keep the best players who show out in training camp and preseason, they have all the way to the last game this year I don't think they'll have to cut down in stages it's all going to happen at once so again all this chatter it's for not because I don't want the coaches to be picking people because they're worried about having depth as a fourth tight end or at fullback, you pick the best players that showed up and then you worry about who's going to be your number 4 running back and your number four TE in when you need one you can go pick one up off the street for that matter seriously I mean the fact that people are worried about whether we keep McKeon or some unknown players just so we have the right amount of numbers at each position.

no you just need a starter and a backup, the rest of it if you end up going lean you go pick one up because just like most other positions when you lose your starter and your backup, you're not finding replacements that's going to fill their production anyway, it's just going to be a body.

what we need is the top two players at every position to be the very best, the rest of it will fall in place....
