WAY before my time but I have heard Buddy Holly & I like what I heard. And then I saw a picture of him & he surely did not look like what my mind pictured. Very sad to think all those guys passing & what might have been.

Funny you should mention how he looked...

I recently had my eyes reexamined for the first time in 8 years and (surprise) needed new glasses.

I was stunned at the number of "Buddy Holly" frames they had on display. I asked the guy helping me choose my frames, what was up with that and he said that's what a lot of folks are going with now.

Fascinating.

I guess in my mind I always thought singers in that time looked like Elvis (who I thought was very good looking. I can see why girls went for THAT) but then I saw Buddy's picture & he was this tall nerdy looking guy!

My feeling is if people are still talking about & listening to him 60 years later he had something! I have never heard a song of his I did not like.

That glasses story is funny! So old really is new again.

I think today's music stinks. I never listen to it and I'm in my 20's. We stink!

Tall & nerdy!

With his "Buddy Holly" glasses my father had that look... he was a huge Buddy Holly.

The problem (like there's only one!) with today's music, and it's been this way for probably 20 years is that if it's popular then it's been carefully manicured and cultured by the recording companies. New & different doesn't see enough light of day in order to become popular to the masses.

Yea he was. He really looked like a nerd. I've heard one song on his on satellite I really like. I think it's called rave something..he has that hiccup sound in his voice from that time & I really like that song!

I cannot name a singer my age that I like.
