Felix Jones nursing shin injury

IRVING, Texas -- Felix Jones, the Cowboys' leading rusher, was not on the practice field during the open media session Wednesday because he's nursing a shin contusion.

Jones, who was injured in last week's win over the Commanders, didn't participate in Tuesday's walkthrough session either.

I'm betting it's just precautionary at this point in the season. He'll play on Saturday night. I'd bet on it.

Does it matter. Choice is the best back on the team. Hopefully they realize this and make the correct move for 2011.

Felix wasn't a #1 in college and he isn't in the pro's.

Another miss with a #1 pick.

I think Felix plays vs. the Cards and that he plays well.

Get the Felix Jones hating here at all. The guy is a good football player who keeps his nose clean and is all about the "team" but some here just "bash" the guy because he gets nicked up a bit? He isn't vocal about his role doesn't complain and has been pretty consistent this year with his play. He is averaging 3 yards less a game compared to last year and 1.8 yards per carry less as well, but that due to the lack of big plays this year. I am sorry I would take felix on my team any day. I hope he finishes strong he will have a career best this year and as far as I am concerned one of the lone bright spots in this crappy season. I can't wait to see him next year with a better line and a year under the new HC conditioning program and practice program.

McFadden is currently proving which one of the two load sharers was the pick of the litter at Arkansas. Not hate here... Just perspective. I like Felix. I also happen to believe Choice is the RB on the team most suited to play a prime time 60 minute per game running game leveraging role.

Cue the wonderlings that will point at our most recent win over Washington and Choice's numbers as compared to Glass Joe. To those I say, give Choice 13 weeks at the helm along with Felix and see where they are in week 14 given the same amount of training camp, pre-season, and regular season exposure next year. I look forward to revisiting at that time when both players will have had a fair shake.. ;)

He did squat up until this point so whats your point? Your agenda is shining thru Bleu.

:p: Thanks. I don't necessarily try to hide it at all. Never have... I'll take the more well rounded RB for the next 8 seasons Alex.

Same here.

So he missed a Tuesday (when teams normally wouldn't even be practicing at all) and Wednesday with a bruised shin... So what. I bet he plays and plays well on Saturday night.

This reminds me of last year when Newman sat out some of training camp and everyone screamed "Injury prone again!!! Glass!!!"... And then he played in every game.

Well Bleu I guess there is a reason why your not a coach. But I will take Felix and his work ethic and "team" first mentality over the 3rd string rb who crys about his "role".

You know what they say... ;) Opinions are like... :D I respect yours even if it may appear to me that you have no clue what you're babbling about.

Good points and accurate.

Adrian Peterson didn't even play Monday night, and he was expected to play from what I've heard.

Felix Jones is on a pace to reach 1300 total yards, and if he does it, he will have done it despite inconsistent or poor offensive line play during the season. Plus, in the first 8 games, Jones received double digit carries only 2 times. There were two games where he didn't catch a pass.

Felix Jones has 1,085 total yards (204 touches) and two touchdowns after 14 games. (5.3 YPT) Jones has run very good in the redzone, too.

In the first 8 games, Felix Jones averaged 57.3 YPG. Since Jason Garrett became head coach, Jones has averaged 104.3 total yards per game. Jones has averaged 17.8 touches per game under Garrett. 57.6% of Jones' total yards have come in the last 6 games. That is 626 total yards in 6 games. In this span, Jones has caught 22 passes for 286 yards and 1 TD; 71T.

Here is an interesting stat for you:

Felix Jones is only 81 yards behind WR Roy E. Williams.

Receptions by RBs (in order by total yards receiving):

1. Rice 62
2. McCoy 74
3. Foster 60
4. McFadden 43
5. Hillis 59
6. Gore 46
7. Jones 46

Jones trails McFadden by 33 yards. McFadden has a 67 yard TD, and Jones has a 71 yard TD.

Nobody is hating Felix Jones. Some people, including me, have been upset that he has been played as a workhorse while Choice was shunted to the sidelines, though Choice is considered by us to be a better all around back for such a task. We haven't been accusing Jones of a fault. Rather, it has been a fault of the responsible coaches who have failed to use Choice (and Jones) as they should have. No one is blaming Jones for the situation. He is a very good back, improperly used. He is a fast racehorse who should be inserted strategically for short stretches, not a cow pony (quicker, but not as fast) who can can get you where you need to go all day long without a breakdown. That's Choice.

In college and in the NFL.

:)

If I attempted to say it even better, I would have most likely fell catastrophically short. ;)

Well then why did Jerry take Felix with the 4th overall pick and leave Oakland to take McFadden at #28?

Oh, wait.

You want 'perspective'? HJow about you start comparing apples to apples; we sure as **** missed out on Chris Johnson. But then again, this kid Dez Bryant ain't too shabby of a pick either.
