Ferg said he thought he could play through it, so there is that.

But I really doubt once it swells up and he loses most of the week he'll be able - or more realistically, allowed - to play. No sense in forcing it this early in the season anyway.

Yeah, once the swelling sets in, it is a whole different thing. You just never know tho.

He’ll try to play for sure. The team needs to pull him back and give him a week, if that’s what they think.

Ferg is a tough sob and will always want to be out on the field. I love the guy.
Yeah, I agree. He should sit out a game or two and rest it. It's a long season, and I would hate for him to reaggravate it and cause longer term issues.

Why would anyone want to sit a player that can play? I don't get it....let him rest? He can take 2 or 3 weeks off and get hurt just as easily when he comes back. If he's hurt, he'll play, if he's injured he won't. Didn't Witten play with a lacerated spleen and broken jaw?

Sit him down for the next game or two, it's way too early in the season to be pushing him to play especially since JJ traded Hendershot for a lousy 7th rd pick. That told all of Cowboy Nation that the TE core is stronger than ever and if Fergy can't go there are three very dependable TEs waiting in the wings. See depth chart below.
"Pushing him to play?" It isnt complicated. If the Drs. clear him, he will play. If not, he will sit.

If Ferguson needs to sit a week that's fine I can deal with that because I thought it was going to be much worse when I saw the replay and just for the record Schoonmaker sucks and will just be out there because he has too.

They have healthy players that can play and Ferguson can heal. Schoonmaker is better that what the fans think. It wouldn't hurt to let him play for a game and give Luepke more targets too.

He doesn’t suck. Yes he was overdrafted but if he was taken later people would call him a great backup.

He hasn’t gotten many targets with the emergence of Ferguson, but he can run block well and supposedly Mike wants to run the ball.

I absolutely thought Ferguson was gone for the year.
