Fielder to Nats

Stupid twitter kept me up another 90 minutes last night trying to find any more "confirmation" on this

Incarcerated Bob has him going to the Rangers

Some ****** named Scott Swain has him going to the Nats

Nobody else credible (Olney, Heyman) said anything

I think the Nats is most likely. The Rangers definitely won't be able to pay him the most. He would have to give up a lot of cash to come to the Rangers. While he may really want to win, I don't think he will give up enough to make that happen. (in terms of years and money)

It looks like the Rangers want Josh more than Fielder. Fielder would have to make it worth their while to sign him instead or enough to allow them to sign both. The fact that the new TV deal money doesn't kick in until 2014 just makes it that much more difficult for them to do this. (they have to sign Fielder now and Josh next year) That doesn't include the money needed to resigning Kinsler, Nelly, and Holland. Young will still be on the roster until the end of 2013 too. The media keeps saying his salary is $16M this year, but Rotoworld says it's only $12M.

Rumor (as new as this AM) is that Texas is going hard after him and that the money would have to be heavily backloaded and pushed into when the TV deal kicks in. Possibly an option after 3 years, that Prince could exercise and go after one last huge FA deal.

While Bob Simpson came out and said they would rather extend Josh than sign Fielder, I wouldn't read too much into that. Texas front office is about as difficult to read as any FO in the league.

As far as money goes, it's not hard to see it happen.

Off the books next year is about $24 million in Josh's, Yorvit's and Feldman's deal, then the following year Young's and Murphy's $20 million comes off the books and the TV deal kicks in. This would still allow the flexibility to resign Napoli and Kinsler. Cruz would likely walk.

If we get Fielder, wow we have no holes in the offense at all. Imagine fielder then cruz, then naps, then beltre,etc... lol
