One of the most recent rumors from one of our very own CowboysZone posters was a move up in the draft to select Oklahoma's RB Adrian Peterson. Now how many of you believe this to be true?

The source according to this poster was said to be reliable. I would **** my pants if this pipe dream in fact came true.

I don't see this scenario ever playing out, but how about some of you die-hards pitching in on this rather bold move.

I'm all ears.

This isn't the answer you're looking for, but I don't want a running back who's constantly getting hurt... AP is a rare talent, but it won't mean much if he can't stay on the field... and his upright running style is tailor-made for getting hurt with some regularity...

He also fumbles a little too often for my taste...

If there was one running back I'd target in this draft, it would be one whose draft stock has taken a tumble, because of a season-ending injury early last season-- Michael Bush, from Louisville... there's a power back for ya, and I believe he's gonna be a steal for whatever team drafts him in the 3rd round or so... I think he'll be successful in the NFL...

BTW, his injury was a broken leg, which is an injury he ought to be able to recover from fully... indeed, I'm not sure why his stock has fallen so much, just because of that injury...

Uhh Peterson protects the ball better than any college back I've seen. I dont think he lost one fumble his entire collegiate career. That being said, I dont want to move up to draft him. I'm against moving up in the draft unless its in later rounds. Teams get raped when they move up in the first round.

I think the only we way we move up to take Peterson, or any player for that matter, is if he slides down a ways.

If Peterson, Jarrett, or Ginn for example slid down past fifteen, then I could I could see us making a little jump up to grab a playmaker. That is of course if we feel the player is that special.

I don't see any way we give up what it takes to move into the top ten.

The sleeper RB I really like is Kenny Irons, he flat out gets it done. Irons reminds me a lot of Portis when he came out. Different talents but I think both of them for some reason are/were very overlooked.

Broken legs heal, and generally heal in such a way that the one suffering the injury is as good as new...

It ain't like Bush has a HISTORY of repeated injuries...

From NFL.com:

Looks natural running with the ball in his hands, but needs to be more conscious of protecting it, as most of his 17 fumbles came after he hit the ground …

I vividly recall him losing a fumble against the Longhorns in this past year's game...

I assume Kenny Irons is like Portis in running and not cross dressing?

One can only hope... but let's be fair to poor Clinton, after one look at the Hogettes, he probably figured crossdressing was mandatory...

Well after Bush consults his doctor, I'll send him an email to consult you, Dr. Silverbear.

The one game I got to attend in Texas Stadium was the season opener in 92, after the Skins had won the Super Bowl the year before... this was the first Super Bowl year of the Jimmy era... the Hogettes sat 4 or 5 rows back of where I was... they were a fun-loving bunch, even though they didn't have a lot to cheer for in that game...

But yeah, they were REAL hard to look at... to their credit, though, I'm told they do a lot of charity work in the Metro area...

Hey, I'll be happy to be his agent...

Trust me when I say if there's one thing I know, it's broken legs... been in a cast more times than I care to remember... they really aren't all that big a deal, so long as you don't REALLY break it, i.e., compound fractures...

They don't even hurt near as bad as sprains or torn ligaments do... the first bone I broke, I was 15, trying out for the high school basketball team... broke a bone in my foot in the first half, got stomped on under the basket... played the second half of the game (and actually played better than I did in the first half), went home that evening, got up to go to school in the morning...

Then, getting on the school bus, another kid stepped on that foot again, and that finished it... I went directly to the school nurse when I got off the bus, and had my first cast by lunch...

It is most assuredly the voice of experience speaking when I talk about broken bones...

The Cowboys aren't that stupid...we would never move up that high to draft a guy who can't seem to get through a college season without injury...no way.

Peterson may fall to Buffalo. A trade is not impossible but would be unlikely. (It would be ironic if a trade between Dallas and Buffalo involved Julius Jones.)

As far as injury-plaqued college RB's go, there are many stories of RB's tagged as injury prone in college and go on to have stellar NFL careers. Thurman Thomas comes to mind. There are others. Feel free to look them up.

My point... Don't put too much stock in past injuries. He is a natural talent and is the top RB coming out in many "expert" opinions. The first team in need will pull the trigger.
