Cooper was their best pick. If he can play center like he does guard it gets even better.

I gotta be honest all this talk in the offseason all the negativity all the nonsense we're hearing on a regular basis you know it's worse than years past with the coin terms historically bad offseasons I'm a little encouraged by the draft some of these offensive lineman and the potential of these other guys seem to have at least flattened some of the negativity it has not gone away they're not everyone's gonna be happy about the draft because they're like me they wanna see the results on the field I got to tell you lollies draft picks have a lot of potential to be good if not great which is different than last year because last year we all saw the writing on the wall it was strange to draft for the future for death and not looking to improve with your draft for that season they instead went out and got guys like Gilmore cooks hankins and others to fill the gaps and they seem to be comfortable with kind of throwing the draft away.. Or at least it pushed it forward they were looking to use these players as impact players for 2023 they were looking like they would be just developmental players for the future in depth...​

That's not what this graph looks like this graph looks like these players are all looking to be competition for starting positions or key role players that we lost like they want them to play this year and that's how they looked at it.. I mean that's my opinion that's how I see it and whether this plan works out or not and I know they're not done with free agency they're going to bring in more of these veterans still out there and the ones that are gonna be cut this team and this roster will have a few different faces to start in September that make the 53 that may not be here right now...​

But again I'm encouraged by this draft I'm not that unhappy about the offseason anyway and it's not done it'll be in flux they'll be like probably looking for 10 different players that are not here right now that could make the roster in the future so this isn't done it's in flux.....​
And that goes for the undrafted players too, I mean people are writing off the fact that Nathaniel Peat he looks a lot like Tony Pollard with more speed and they don't think he's gonna make the roster if they have their mind made-up why are there 7 running backs on this team right now and probably another one or two to come???

This is why preseason is very important especially for teams like the Cowboys who depend on the draft more we need to see how these guys play in live games in the competition to fight for jobs because some of these guys are gonna catch the eye of a coach and he's gonna take the place of a more popular player there's gonna be a surprise or two and that's why I like that part of the year we need at least two preseason games at least talking about getting rid of it and that would be a mistake for fans to see some of these young guys play and coaches to evaluate them...

He was one of the best coverage LB in the country and I am pretty sure year 1 is all about 3rd down Mike duties and STs.

They're not betting on anything that's your opinion that doesn't mean this guy can't be coached and can get better....


he is not being counted on as a starter that's why they brought in kendricks, the fact is Overshown is also coming back, I hear he's put on a few pounds and that he's working hard and then we have Clark ,Malik Jefferson, and I don't know there's other guys.. We can't also discount the fact that Mike Zimmer is a different kind of defensive coordinator his defense is gonna be different so hopefully the players that are here even some of them that were holdovers from the last defense are going to play better in this defense versus Dan Quinn's defense when we had undersized linebackers trying to stop the run....


I mean that is what training camp is for preseason we're going to find out who can play and who might be ready and who might need more work, nobody's counting on anything they didnt draft this guy to be a starter day 1 but Mike Zimmer sees something in him and wanted him...​

So, I don't care what fans think they saw in college or what he looks like on tape good or bad all this stuff doesn't matter all it matters is when they get into practices at OTA's mini camps and training camp the coaches will see their weaknesses and strengths and they'll try to work with it... They no way shape or form do I think they drafted this kid in day one he's lining up as a starting middle linebacker that would be Kendricks....

Well as much as that makes a lot of sense and people don't like anything that makes sense around here,

I think it's more than that I think that the parallel that's being spoke about is a fact to me it's not that they're cousins or related and that they might have a work ethic that's similar...

it's the fact that they're both WERE NOT on anybody's radar at all, and they came out of nowhere that receiver was on nobody's radar that he was going to be that good...

So, when everybody judges these drafts, you know too high of a rating, 2 low a rating, the point is here you never know when you end up having a star in the making or, a BUST, until they actually get through practices, training camp, and preseason and the coaches have a chance to do something with them... But if they get an opportunity because of what they did in those moments and they get on the field and surprise fans.

I know it was slightly different with Tony Romo but a guy like miles Austin for example nobody really saw it coming seem like another Jag way down on the roster that was never going to make the team like some of the wide receivers from last year's training camp that never did anything but they look really good in training camp and eventually once miles Austin got his real shot if it wasn't for his hamstrings he was a way above average wide receiver he was really good he had one elite year.....

So hopefully we get some of that from this draft some of these players that fans are not comfortable with they feel like they were over drafted they could end up surprising some of us and that would be really good...

Right now he is a rover who can hit and cover. As an NFL LB, he doesn't have tje needed skills right now. Really struggled to tackle. Its a pick the coaches/scouts must have seen development traits that can turn him into a better pro than he was as a college player

It's reasonable to think he was drafted too early. There's a big difference between his highlight reel and full games. Because the Cowboys valued him over a RB just makes it easier to digest. They don't RBs well.
He's got a lot to work on like tackling.

sorry, Lawrence was nothing special. he was above average DE. who got paid at elite level and didn't produce.
 
I'm still a little surprised by the lack of RB UDFAs. They got pretty picked over in the draft but four of them would have at least been worth a look

Geroge Holani signed with the Seahawks
Emani Bailey signed with the Chiefs
Kendall Milton signed with the Eagles
Cody Schrader singed with the 49ers

The Cowboys disagree. They knew he would last until their 5th. And they had offers to trade down and didn't. They really wanted him badly. They had a 3rd round grade on him and when their turn came up late in the 3rd they jumped on him.
