I'm very much behind this. If Lewis is cleared and not suspended, he can be a stud.

Very much a fan of King and McDowell if his head is on straight and motivated.

I don't think we sniff Barnett, Harris, Watt on Thursday. I don't want anything to do with Takk so Malik is the best option.

You had me at round 1.

As long as Lewis is cleared and he has been clean, then I'm okay with him.

Perplexing draft that I like but...
I love McDowell but don't know if Marinelli can get it out of him when he doesn't feel like it.
Then three CB, 2,3,4? What about safety,BPA ect.

Like the first pick, dislike the midget secondary.

Looking at the Cowboys pre-draft visit Cb's over the past few years, the team covets size at CB. 6'0" and up.

They're all at least 5'10 and king and Lewis make up for it in arm length.

I'd sacrifice an inch in height for tough, proven playmaker but that's just me

Definitely a different approach, and not what I expected heading into it but...

This was the result of a gm forum mock... ironically King, Lewis and Elder were each BPA for me when I was on the clock. Could be viewed as overkill, but King may be able to transition to Safety and I love Lewis and Elder. Those guys all play like their hair's on fire, have strong personalities and intangibles, embrace the physicality of the sport, and collectively will re-shape the mentality of the secondary.

You need 6 DBs who can play in today's game. We're already light in the secondary, and all it takes is an injury or two and we're in really bad shape. I think most would agree we should take 2 in the first 4 frames given the depth of the class... so drafting 3 didn't seem too crazy to me. We're in major transition there, and these guys are all extremely polished and ready to play now.

I want no part of McDowell if the stories about him are accurate. The story that concerns me the most relates to him forcing his coaches to change the game plan because we wouldn't follow the game plan. IF true, nope. Do not want.

Heavy on the secondary. LOL.

I actually like it. Would prefer a more twitchy edge rusher than McDowell though.

I had read it wasn't even forcing them to change the game plan. It was that he would go out there and do whatever he wanted despite the coaches constantly trying to get him to follow the plays called, etc.

I think he is uber talented, no question. If his head was screwed on straight, he's a Top 10 guy. But I am not sure the talent is so good that it trumps the fact he's a total knucklehead. I think some here are simply falling in love with his talent and not really weighing what a dipwad the kid is.

I suspect King might be looked at as a S in his draft.

I think most teams that have shown a great deal of interest in him project him as a safety or play a lot of soft zones (BAL, CHI, DET, MIA, PIT, SF).

Amazing. Those three DBS are among my favorite players.

Our D would go from middling to badass

Thanks for the clarification. Completely agree.

Or the D could continue to be middling since our best shot at improving the rush was to take a headcase lineman.

Ok, that's fair. Let me be more specific. Our secondary would go from wussy to badass

I wouldn't mind him playing alongside Jones here. I saw one scouting guide that compared him to Malcolm Jenkins........... CB in college, moved to safety in the pros but has the flexibility to slide into the slot, etc.

I just don't know if Marinelli really wants the traditional set up with your FS and then your in the box SS type.

While ignoring the lack of production. Anyone watching the press conferences or reading recent quotes should see that this guy is the opposite of what the Cowboys are looking for. They've talked up work ethic and intangibles a great deal lately, and this guy isn't that at all.

1st 3 rounds are good enough for me, but Elder for the 3rd DB in a row is too much for me. He's probably a slot only player as well, we need bigger outside CB's.
