There's some smoke with McDowell but I still think he would do better in this room. Have no proof, just a gut feeling. Rumors are around about him and what he was doing. Only the coaches know and how much they'll tell the FO and scouts, I have no idea.

As to production, I see it the same as Bosa last year. He was accounted for and/or avoided by offenses. Then he got hurt. He doesn't have nearly the refinement of Bosa either.

That said I've seen nothing from the DE prospects that could be available to make me think we won't be buying anymore than 5 more years of DLaw-type production and that doesn't interest me, and the CBs will probably be about equal to one another into later rounds.

If I'm going to take a shot at elite talent I think he's it.

Definitely a different approach, and not what I expected heading into it but...

This was the result of a gm forum mock... ironically King, Lewis and Elder were each BPA for me when I was on the clock. Could be viewed as overkill, but King may be able to transition to Safety and I love Lewis and Elder. Those guys all play like their hair's on fire, have strong personalities and intangibles, embrace the physicality of the sport, and collectively will re-shape the mentality of the secondary.

You need 6 DBs who can play in today's game. We're already light in the secondary, and all it takes is an injury or two and we're in really bad shape. I think most would agree we should take 2 in the first 4 frames given the depth of the class... so drafting 3 didn't seem too crazy to me. We're in major transition there, and these guys are all extremely polished and ready to play now.
Getting those guys are great value and I would be happy with this
