This might be best way to sum up where we are with Dak. Taking all 32 teams and saying if Dak is better than their starter (or in case of Philly their backup)

Washington - Cousins - NO
Giants - Eli - Tie
Eagles - Wentz/Foles - NO to both
Bears - Trubisky - Yes
Packers - Rodgers - NO
Lions - Stafford - NO
Vikings - Keenum - Yes
Saints - Brees - NO
Falcons - Ryan - NO
Panthers - Cam - NO
SF - Garoppolo- NO
Seattle - Russel - NO
Rams - Goff - NO
Arizona - Skelton - Yes
Bucs - Jameis- NO
Bills - Tyrod - Yes
Dolphins - Tannehill/Cutler - Yes
Jets - McCown - NO
Pats - Brady - hahahaha
Bengals - Dalton - Yes
Browns - Kizer - Yes
Steelers - Roethlisberger - NO (this is who I want Dak to pattern his game after)
Ravens - Flacco - NO
Titans - Mariota - Tie
Texans - Watson - Yes (Don’t have enough info on Watson and haven’t seen if he can throw)
Jags - Bortles - Tie
Colts - Luck - NO (if Luck is healthy but Dak is better than Brisset.)
KC - Smith - NO
Denver - Lynch/Osweiler/Siemian - Yes
Oakland - Carr - NO
LA - Rivers - NO

So after that scan Dak is about 21st in the league. And anyone that begs to differ don’t use his rookie year numbers. I’m looking at decision making and arm talent. Find me video of Dak’s passes and decisions being better.

I would take Watson in a heart-beat.. and Dalton too..

and no way can Dak pattern his game like Ben who doesn’t panic when the pocket breaks down and can launch the ball deep and deep intermediate routes consistently and accurately..

Weeden in his brief stint here was like Dak this year. Guy threw at 72% and he had Martin with neck issues and i don’t even think he played with Leary, who only played 4 games at all and wasn’t healthy that year.

Dak is a checkdown QB going back to college.. he also doesn’t see the whole field well. It’s why Linehan has him in shotgun with WR spread wide to keep everything in front of him and bootlegs as a staple, the latter limiting him to half the field.

Cousins
Wentz/Foles
Rodgers
Stafford
Brees
Ryan
Cam
Garoppolo
Russel
Goff
Brady
- Roethlisberger
Watson
Luck
Rivers

QBs that I think are better. But many I wouldn’t trade for, like say rivers, because of age and money. Injuries also a case. And qbs I wouldn’t pay like cousins.

Bortles is bad, really bad. He cost them the game against New England. Dak is definitely better than Bortles but I realize that is not the point of your list and I don't mean to nitpick it. I agree with your overall point.

You do realize most those qbs are veterans right? I recall Brees about to be ran out the Chargers organization. Eli was looking like a bust until he won a SB and the list go on. Dak mechanics was bad this year but maybe the shuffle in line play had something to do with it. Play Romo his 2nd year and I bet we won't win 9 games or sniff the playoffs.

Romo could always throw the ball down the field and into tight windows, he would have been better than Bledsoe even if he started as a rookie. QB's can either throw or they can't, that is what we are about to find out about Dak in year 3. Year 3 will provide all the answers.

The jury is still out on Garropolo, and I disagree with Mariota (would rather have Mariota), Eli (would rather have Dak) being a "tie", and also do not want Flacco under any circumstances. I think the rest of the list is pretty solid. When there's 15+ guys you would take over your QB, that means you have a mediocre QB. From what we've seen so far, Dak pretty much is his scouting report from college and looks like he's in the bottom quarter of the leagues' top 20 QBs

I bolded the ones i would take. I left off Brady, Rivers, Big Ben, Eli, Brees only because of their ages but if the question becomes just for a season (maybe 2) to make a SB run then i would add those guys in a heartbeat

the list of who you wouldn't want is much shorter than those I you would want. Basically, There are only about 4 QB in the league that is worse than the one we have:

Brown's QB
Jet's QB
Denver's QB
Arizona's QB

Those are about the only teams I wouldn't take their starter in a straight up trade for ours. And after the draft, that list might only be 1 or 2. We have one of the worst QB in the NFL. It's sad but true.

Tannehill is a better Quarterback at this stage. Multiple 4000 yard passing season while having no run game, till last year in spurts with Ajayi, or a decent offensive line.

Dude has taken shot may shots throughout his career yet never backed down.
FYI, if anyone brings up his last 1.25 year injury, watch the hit that caused it, Calais Campbell nails his knee. He missed last season due to not having surgery on said knee and said knee buckling while in TC.

I’m almost certain OP doesn’t actually watch NFL football.

If im building an NFL franchise right now for the future I count 7 or 8 QB’s that I’m definitely taking over Dak...there’s another 4 or 5 that are in pretty much the same category.
