Final Grades From PFF

Really people should put things in perspective with TW. With a running game and being the 2nd WR he just isn't going to get the ball a lot. He is ahead of Alvin Harper so far in his career also.

Alvin Harper
1991 20 326 16.3avg 39L 1TD
1992 35 562 16.1avg 52L 4TD
1993 36 777 21.6avg 80TD 5TD
1994 33 821 24.9avg 90L 8TD

Terrence Williams
2013 44 736 16.7avg 82TD 5TD
2014 37 621 16.8avg 51L 8TD

THANK YOU!!!!!!

The biggest thing that makes me wonder about their grading is it is done within 24 hours and without all 22. Just doesn't seem like you can accurately do all that grading quickly without a massive staff and especially without all 22 its almost impossible to grade DBs.
Good point about the ALL-22.

Yes, doing it accurately would be very difficult for a small internet company.

When I do a review of a player, I watch each snap a minimum of 5 times. That woud be 55 times per offensive or defensive snap to grade all players. On some plays I review it significantly more than 5 times.

They do their first set of grading using the broadcast, then use the All-22 to refresh their grades later on.

Does PFF take into account special teams in any way?

I may be wrong, but don't coaches grade players after every game? I don't think they use pass/fail and I think their grading criteria may be even more subjective than PFF; Marinelli's "Loafs" for example.

That's context, which is more useful than just saying "PFF sucks".
The coaches know exactly what they want each player doing on each play. They have a large staff of coaches and scouts to review 11 players per snap.

PFF has to grade 11 x 32 players per snap.

TWill started to trail off about the time he hurt his finger. I expect a better year next year with another offseason.

If not you look at a receiver in 2016. It's just not a priority this offseason.

Then their first set of grades are approximately worthless unfortunately. You don't get a good enough view of almost anything to actually grade a game off of broadcast.

They do not use the all-22. S and WR data is going to have to be based on guesses and omissions by the nature of their process.

Further the rating is the sum of one man's opinion regarding a players cumulative performance.

Their ratings in the passing game are garbage because they cannot see it and even then its only one man's opinion.

PFF better than nothing for some things. Some of it should average out when looking at all teams. The point about the All 22 is good.

They have a section that grades special teams play.

I agree.

It's fun to be able to look at their rankings and compare players.

Nothing is the be all, end all.

NFL teams vary wildly in their opinions of players, both professional and college.

So did Brees according to them. He's their #2 QB in the NFL behind Rodgers

I think part of the reason for that is they judge every single play a guy was involved in. Obviously, that doesn't generally include handing a ball off. When you are involved in a ****ton of plays, you are going to have more of a chance for good plays, and thus get a more positive score.

Melton had much better grade than I thought. Still think he has played his last down in Dallas. Carter worse than I thought, though he disapeared mid year.

He played better than that. Hayden is no star, but the staff likes him and they've been right on a lot of those calls lately.

Hayden is a decent two down 1 tech. The type of guy you can win with but you would prefer to have a better player at.

It shouldn't be. He is very average.

He is still young and WR is one of the harder position to play coming out of college. I think your a bit premature is saying he is *average*. He has already shown some real ability. There is just enough tape on him now that defenses are playing to stop his strengths. He has to grow more, and I think his best will come next year and possibly the year after at the latest. Will he be a pro bowler? Well; not likely, but I think he can be a very capable #2.

I think stats are ok but once again as a fan base we are looking at stats to tell our team story. Every player isn't going to be great; good; average; or below average, they will vary from position to position or even at the same position. It's called a team so if TWill grades poorly in certain categories did it make a difference when he caught several game winning tds; no it didn't. I don't care who grade better than whom as long as as a team they grade out to a playoff run and hopefully "6". By the standards on here we should only have superstars on the team, well good luck with that and the salary cap structure of that team. I think I'll just enjoy the players we have and hope they make the right decisions come FA time in who to keep and who to bring in next year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR CZ!
