Very encouraging what we have seen since the last few weeks after a few players returned and the two trades. What are the final pieces for this defense rebuild?

Edge-with that good interior pressure, we need that edge who can consistently win against single matchups.

Mike Linebacker-we need an athletic, 3 down, rangy linebacker with high end coverage abilities.

Safety-might need 2 new starters, depending if they move on from Hooker. Need that center fielder with range who can line everyone up and prevent the plays over the top and that versatile type closer to the line of scrimmage, one who has strong coverage abilities and can be effective against the run.

Corner-with the emergence of Revel thus far, the starter need is looking more unlikely, perhaps they need to add some more depth. Still have Carson, Butler as backups along with Stewars who they should resign.

I looked at this draft a little bit and I certainly see players on the defensive side of the ball that can complete the defensive rebuild. Even if we draft at 27 and 30, we could still get two guys that can help the defense next season. I think we could use a versatile defensive tackle that can play all defensive line positions. There are several of those guys available between 25-50 on Dane’s top 50. Just got to find the right fit. Eberflus loves those types of defensive linemen. I think we can use a David Irving type to go along with Quinnen, OSA,EZ, and Clark.

Think that is more of a luxury at this point, now if one falls in your lap, take him, but we have bigger needs that need more attention. What I have debating is, do they fix their pass defense with a LB/S or do they finish their front 7 with an Edge/LB. In my opinion, linebacker is the top need in any scenario.

Maybe, I just remember how well Quinnen played with Leonard Williams with the Jets earlier in his career. I am not sure Clark returns. You can’t pay him top dollar.

I would love the Mike and Safety they fit right into those draft slots we will probably get.

Cannot see Clark not returning, believe they save close to 10 million if they restructure his contract.

He has to agree to a contract restructure. I am not sure he will agree to Cowboys discount. We will see. This is his last contract.

Clark has made a lot of money in his career. IF he thinks we have a real shot at going serious distance in the playoffs next year, he might consider that. Players towards the end of a career will put more importance on a ring.

Just draft good players, rely on our draft board grades. Trust the scouts and the grades. No reaches, no projects. Regardless of position.
Effective use of FA (admittedly, I have not really paid attention to potential FA in 2026), would allow us to go BPA in the draft for the most part...if we cand address 2 of 3 of DE, LB and S in FA, we can truly focus on BPA.

Arvell Reese is the player that would make the biggest impact on this defense. I see a more well rounded Micah when I watch him play. He is long gone unless they move up. Downs and the othet Ohio St LB would help a lot too.

Parsons is the player I comp Reese to. I think whatever team that drafts him will use him in a similar role.

we will not have a championship quality D until we have a FS that can make plays consistently

no other need on D is as important

This offseason has a surplus of low to mid priced UFA DEs, and a stocked group of top 100 draft DEs...do both. LBs are lackluster in FA, so I'd like to draft a MLB. Safety is limited in FA, but I'd to go all in on a guy like Nick Cross.

So, draft DE and MLB, and sign Saftey.

I think Edge, MLB and SS are the biggest needs.

I think a quality MLB and pass rusher would immediately make our defense good enough to have us competing for the division again.
