I got this off an article from JJT, jacquee taylor. We all know how Flozell has had false starts etc, now with Kosier besides him again, looks like Flozell is ready to play; What do you think?

COWBOYS Q&A
Q: As you are very aware, a successful running game or successful passing game depends on the offensive line. How well will they play this season?

Julien Frost

TAYLOR: The biggest question is how well Flozell Adams will play. If he does what he's supposed to do, the rest of the line should fall in place. Adams reported at a svelte 336 pounds, and the Cowboys hope that will help him move a little better, especially against speed rushers.

Adams had an average season in 2008. He must play better this season, reducing the false starts that short-circuit drives. He can be a dominant run blocker and a solid pass blocker when he's focused. The Cowboys need to run the ball better, but they need the offensive line, starting with Adams, to play better to accomplish that.

My opinion is that Flo's best days are far behind him.

i dont know, looks like this year he reported in shape and wants to win. Best to my knowledge, flozell hasnt had any false starts yet in training camp, while other offensive linemen like columbo, kosier have.

Then, if you go back and look at the cowboys in the 90's, mark tuneii was about that same age too when tuneii helped the cowboys win 3 super bowls.
Tuneii was born in march 1960, which would make him about 32 first super bowl in 1992, so flozell can do it too if he really wants a championship.

Flo and the other guys usually get a different type of false starts. Flo's are because he can't hear very well. That is never going to change. The other guys just aren't playing attention when they get theirs.

That explains why he looked a little smaller in the TC pics. He looked pretty bad towards the end of last year and in the Pro Bowl (yeah, yeah, it's the Pro Bowl, but he still looked really bad). This is probably for the better. I'm thinking a smaller Flo means a better Flo in pass protection and even if he slips as a run blocker, I'd take that.

Well if he is in much better shape after losing so much weight one would hate to see how it would have been if he had not...because as it is now we have read multiple reports that he is constantly coming in last place in runs and or sprints.

Now...coming in last in those does not mean he will suck at playing LT, just commenting on losing the weight and being in better shape yet having troubles in the running/sprints drills.

He knows he's playing for his job next year. If he doesn't play well he's gone. If he does play well Jerry might keep him around.

here's hoping we can get 2 more years out of him. if free can't do the job, we need to draft a LT in round 1 next year. it would be nice if the rookie could learn for a year and then take over.

Yeah, that or move Flo to a guard position.

Flo is getting old and obviously not in his prime. But to be fair, he played with one functioning arm for at least half of the season. That obviously affected how he could block and probably threw off his technique. If he's healthy, he should perform much better this season.

out of curiosity is there any indication that he normally comes in over weight?

I don't ever remember that happening.

He hasn't had many days in his career that could be considered "best". To me, he is the player who most epitomizes this decade, which has been the lousiest in team history. Underachiever, lack of heart, lack of hustle, lack of discipline. I hope he can make me eat my words, but I seriously doubt it. I am too used to being underwhelmed by Flo most seasons, and this last year was the worst yet. He ranked in the bottom of the league in both pass blocking and run blocking, and was a penalty machine.

The Hotel has been a pretty good LT for a long time. He could have been better if he worked at it harder no doubt. BUT people here have been spoiled and do not remember what it was like that season he was injured. You rarely appreciate what you have until you no longer have it. Guards and centers who do not have to move too much can play very well into their late thirties. Bruce Mathews was still a beast at 38; Jackie Slater was very good at the same age. Derrek Kennard did well for us. But tackles- especially LT's that have to handle the best pass rushers-usually do not last as long. That is one reason all this BS you hear from the uniformed and ignorant about the so called age of our O line- only FLo is at the age to worry. The others have several more years at least before we have to worry about them.

I've never known him to have a weight issue, or that it was a concern to coaches. He always struck me as mountainous, not fat.
