The game meant nothing either way.
I agree it didn’t mean anything. In December a lot of times teams don’t give their all. I just don’t get why that game specifically is called out for it lol. Like does anyone say we should’ve had a 14 win season in 2016?

No, he doesn’t.
It’d be nice if our fans had a little better understanding of what’s actually been going on all this time though.

We haven’t been 8-8 in a while. And when we were, it was with teams with sub-.500 talent.

With all due respect, I'd like to ask you a question or two.

I understand the Jets game was a walking wounded game for Dallas. I understand they kept two men back to add to the blocking so Darnold could have all day. I do not fault the team nor Garrett for this loss. Although one might make a case he did nothing to change the way the team attacked on either side of the ball.

Over the years Garrett has fielded several teams that had immense talent and can't seem to get past enough play-off games to be in the NFC Championship game.

But, the commentary by a fan here that went to the game and stated he focused on Garrett, and claimed he did not talk to his assistant coaches throughout the game. And that was the Green bay game, I believe

So, would you agree, or disagree, taking the comment by this fan at face value? Garrett's brand of leadership in supervising his coordinators is seriously lacking? And that being disengaged shows a weakness in his brand of coaching?

Adjustments needed to be made, and it appeared in both the Saints and Green Bay games the team kept smashing it's head against a brick wall with no real substantial change or counter being made.

Last question. After seeing Garrett over these years, and the lack of any type of breakthrough in play-off situations, if you were the man who made the final decision and you had a choice between the following, which man would you choose to lead this team next season, and why?

Urban Meyer
Lincoln Riley
Jason Garrett

I'm not trying to paint you in a corner. If you feel this is a set-up, then refuse to answer. No hard feelings.

My position is this.

Garrett has had a few teams that should have gotten to the NFC Championship game but failed. I see the posts about, "It's the defense." If that is the reason, and they repeat the feat of failing over, why hasn't Garrett gone to Jerry and fired the DC and brought in a better coach? If Marinelli cannot get this team to succeed as they bring in player after player, is it not incumbent on the head coach to demand a change? Jerry seems to give him a pass on these failures, so that may indicate Jerry would appease him with a new DC.

If it is the players only, then Garrett should stand up and be involved in the process to the point he can influence who they pick to a greater degree. If it is the failure of the coaches, other than Garrett falking on his sword and resigning, he should be active in getting better minds and coaching to succeed.

Especially if the fan was correct and Garrett is an isolated individual on the sidelines.

Either way, that is a failure worth noting. Frankly I think he has risen to his best, and will never come to the surface of winning. That is an opinion based comment.

I would take Urban Meyer first and Lincoln Riley second. But in no case other than a miracle season this year, with serious coaching choices by this head coach to win critical games, would I ever allow Garrett to walk back into The Star after this season is over. That also is an opinion made of emotions and perhaps not based on facts.

Because people like to say it was a winning season for some reason. Anything less than 10-6 is a fail anyway to me. Unless you make the playoffs.

Why? He is on the last year of his deal! No One on this coaching staff will do any better. I want Garrett gone as much as you do but it makes no sense at this point. Finish out the year and anything short of a SB win move on. Like it or not the players like Garrett so firing him at this point will do more damage than good!
I know it won’t happen mid season. I’m basically saying get rid of Garrett at the latest before next season. I’m just sooo ready to be done with the Jason garrett era of ineptitude

Now we're having to go back to 2017 results to justify coaching complaints? What is wrong with this fanbase?

I agree he needs to be fired, but who replaces him and does the new hc have the same pitiful lack of power that Garrett possesses? The fundamental crack in the foundation is that jerry continues to hire the next head coach, and then emasculates them by hiring thier entire staff for them. Who are the only hc in nfl history who were not allowed to hire their own staff? Answer: Wade Phillips & Jason Garrett.

Garrett sucks, no doubt. But unless Jerry gets an epiphany or a blow to the head, he will continue to hire head coaches with no intention of granting them any power. Jerry will hire their staff for them (ex: Jerry hired Garrett as the off coordinator before naming Wade Phillips the hc). There are no more huge stadium deals to get the dfw cities to vote on, so we wont get another Parcells.

Business as usual, winning championships be damned so we can do things "the Jones way" is the path we've been on for eons. Until the Cowboys sport the round, blue "JJ" sticker on the back of the helmet, it will remain business as usual here in Dallas. Hubris reigns supreme for the Jones cartel and winning would be nice but it must be done the Jones way. Sigh.

Well I think most people consider that season a fail. Had a lot of key injuries and Zeke was suspended. And Dak’s worse year. Nothing successful about it at all. But you don’t need to strip a win away in order to say that. We already know it wasn’t lol.

The damage is done. Firing Garrett won't erase the humiliations of the past 12 years. It won't erase the wasted years and talent he wasted.
Yes. Fire Garrett.
But it won't be a celebration. Just a new beginning- maybe.
Lol!!! It'll be a huge celebration.

I don’t believe for a second the HC didn’t talk to his coordinators. Nor do I believe a fan went to a game and spent the whole time watching the HC on the sidelines.

I also don’t think we’ve lost a playoff game under Garrett to a team with inferior talent. I think both GB rosters were comparable to ours, and the Rams roster was better.

I like Garrett for the Cowboys more than I like either Riley or Meyer. I don’t think Riley will he a good NFL coach in the end, and I can’t see Meyer working with Jerry. There are pro coaches I’d prefer for Dallas if they were available, if that means anything to you.

Garrett defenders are united tonight!

Should be very happy with how this season is going. Under performing against the Jets and Saints. Getting embarrassed by Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers for the 29th time. But beating up on East opponents who have been awful for a while now outside of Philadelphia’s miraculous run to the SB

Wonder what we will think when the Jets end up 2-14?
They’ll make excuses and say oh we were a walking MASH unit. They’re already doing that. Despite Darnold being god awful and the Jets totally sucking

They barely beat Philadelphia’s 3rd string 6-0. I don’t think the eagles even game planned for that game or spent more than 30 mins on Dallas that week. But yea y’all count that one so they were 9-7. Big whoop
Nice spin.
The game meant nothing to the Cowboys either.
