So you think Stephen Jones had something to do with yesterday's loss?
Really?
Was he playing?
Coaching?
You could pick any of 50 people that are more to blame than him

You guys have your scapegoats and never let up.
I do yes. In fact he is probably the root of it with his cheap nature.

They rely on draft only and aren’t as great at it as the people they hire tell them they are.

33 and 14 are pathetic trying to defend the run. After 58s play they won’t use a high pick on a DT again. Do we think Quinn didn’t know all that, and kept better players on the bench?

They just aren’t deep enough and thinking that every one of your mid round picks is going to be a top player is a foolish strategy.

Worrying about cap dollars years from now so you don’t have one bad season is why you end up smoked every year at a certain point.

They probably can’t even pivot now as this window is likely blown. It’ll get worse from here before it gets better.

60 million a year to Dak will be the first indicator that the secret sauce that gave us a terminal disease will continue to coat the meat.

Jerry is done. He ain’t getting into a Super Bowl before he is dead.

I say “into” because winning that game isn’t as big of a deal to him, it’s about being the center of attention for the two weeks prior.

Stephen is that you. Don’t worry son Even if daddy does fire you from your current position, you will always have a job at the ticket counter
No need for insults.
I've never been a fan of either Jones being GM, but I'm just speaking logic here.

If you are in Dallas, please PM me if you'd like to meet, btw
Maybe you can call me Stephen then

You could argue that stephon is a reason why jerry hasn’t made things even worse by stopping Jerry from doing jerry things

You can’t scream “jerry meddles” too much and then in the next breathe blame Stephen for not closing deals or low balling offers….if Jerry meddles THAT much you’d think he’d overrule Stephen on things or offer fair contract amounts.

At least you answered in a logical manner.
Thanks, for that

I would reply that before yesterday, how would most feel our roster stacked up to the rest of the league?
I bet most would say we have holes but are way better most...and that the roster was well put together overall.

Again, before yesterday.

Did you pick us to lose yesterday?
I didn't

Neither Jones is going anywhere. The best you can hope for is that with Jerruh getting older he just can't handle the GM position anymore and they have to hire a real one

The Jones FO has the distinction of believing they're great managers, despite their purposeful limitations. Their blind self-love runs very deep.

If Jerry really wanted to make a statement he would fire salary cap boy. Stephen is the one who is bargain bin shopping. Stephen blew the dak contract negotiations. Stephen is the one who is trying to sign vets like Bobby wagoner and Shaq Leonard with a ham Sandwich for an offer. Stephen is everything wrong with this franchise. Nepotism has set the culture. If Jerry really wants to win. He will fire his son.
I admit my first reaction was to laugh...the thought of JJ turning around and telling Stephen "you're fired" after that was spit your drink through your nose type of funny

This is actually the best thread ever, in the history of great threads. Can you imagine if this ever happened?

Do you really think the Cowboys have a crap roster and coaching staff?
really?

THEY are the ones that underperformed to their abilities, not the GM yesterday
lol read your post again. You say Stephen put together a good roster and coaching staff but then immediately follow it up about them blowing the game. Again.

You can’t have it both ways.

So are you saying Stephen should have known he put together a group of coaches and players that would lay an egg yesterday, but the rest of the people in the country knew better?
Nobody was picking the Pack outside of Green Bay

Do you think Jimmy Johnson or Belichick picked the Packers in a blowout yesterday, for example....or any other great football mind?
Both thought Dallas had put together a good roster and coaching staff.

So why is Stephen to blame?
The roster and coaching staff looked pretty good going into the game, though not perfect by any means.

It’s Stephen’s job to put together a roster and coaches that won’t blow playoff games and choke

He failed that. Just like he has every single season he has been in the front office.

He is absolutely part of yesterday's loss. Him and Jerry are the ones who assemble the team, including players and coaches.

Who is the one responsible for firing players and coaches if they don't perform? Daddy and son.

We had clear holes in the team and guess who wanted to penny pinch and not shore up those holes?

We've had nearly 30 years of rotating players and coaches and we haven't gotten out of the 2nd round yet. At some point you can't ignore the real problem.

Several of us were screaming that we need to be more active during free agency, but apparently our team is so perfect we don't even have to make any effort to improve and once again we get destroyed in the playoffs.

You simply CANNOT win only by drafting when other teams are using every avenue, including free agency and the draft to improve their team. San Fran brought guys in. The Eagles brought guys in. Meanwhile our team is just so perfect, despite obvious holes anyone can see, and it showed up again in the playoffs.

We knew even from the beginning of the season that we had problems. We were supposed to be a 'running based team', but we skip out on O line for a TE who barely plays and a micro running back taken late in the draft. What happens? Virtually zero run game when it matters. Passed up on Bobby Wagner. Guess what happens in the playoffs? Awful LB play.

Being the FO of the Cowboys has to be the easiest job in the world during regular season. You don't have to do anything because no matter what, we like our guys.
