Anyone else test it yet? I've been using it for maybe an hour. Seems pretty fast, hasn't crashed, and they've adopted some of the look and feel of Chrome's minimalistic menu with tabs on top.

It can be setup like Chrome with a very minimalistic menu setting (ie single orange button for the menu bar) or in the normal File, Edit, View, History, etc mode.

Since it's beta, it has a feedback button to quickly offer feedback about the browser. It sounds like the feedback button will be removed on final release.

This is a mock up, but it looks similar, but some differences. (missing feedback button and home button is next to the back and forward button)

So far, I like it.

Firefox Beta Download page.

I use Firefox and I like Chrome except for the url bar being under the tabs...

I hope Firefox hasn't gone that route... or at least lets you configure it...

I use Firefox and Opera. (one on each monitor) Opera I love because it's extremely customizable. (tabs on bottom of the screen) Though, there are many things that have been happening with Opera that I'm not liking so much.

Any way to make alt+tab switch between tabs instead of windows. that's the only thing I hate about tabs in general. I still just open a new window for anything else.

Kind of sad when what used to be the "evolution of the browser" has regressed to simply copying Chrome ..

I absolutely love Chrome and not just because of its clean interface .. Chrome is smaller and less bloated than FireFox. They may as well rename FireFox back to Netscape because it's reaching that level of bloat now.

Anything is better than Internet Exploder

I really wish IE would just go away .. it's a losing cause and no matter how many new major releases they bring out every year, it won't be any better.

In Chrome, you can use CTRL+TAB to switch through the tabs .. may work on FireFox too .. I mean they copied other aspects :D

Next Tab: Ctrl+tab or Ctrl+PgDown
Previous Tab: Ctrl+shift+Tab or Ctrl+PgUp
New Tab: Ctrol+T
Undo Close Tab: Ctrl+Shift+T
Select a Tab: Ctrl+# (1-8)
Select Last Tab: Ctrl+9
Move Tab to End: Ctrl+End
Move Tab to Start: Ctrl+Home
Move Tab Left: Ctrl+Left Arrow (or Up Arrow)
Move Tab Right: Ctrl+Right Arrow (or Down Arrow)

I'm confused. It's evolution, but you don't want other browsers to pick up on what is supposed to be better? They should just meander with a worse UI cause Chrome had it first?

You should check out FF4, it's actually pretty nice and quick. Doesn't feel bloated.

heh and Chrome stole tabs (and I'm sure a boat load of other stuff) from Firefox who stole them from Opera. :lmao2: Actually, most browser UI innovations appeared in Opera first. Then everyone else stole them.

Opera IMO has far and away the best UI. It's not even close. You can customize the hell out of it. Their problem is they are so suck on standards and IE is so lax in many cases that non-standard markups are created and end up having issues displaying in Opera. (which is why I use both Opera and FF) Firefox renders everything. Even stuff that Chrome has issues with. ...which is why I don't use Chrome.

Between Opera and Firefox I've got the best of both worlds. Of course, not everyone has two monitors that makes using two browsers at the same time so simple.

I'm stuck with IE because that's what all of our web apps are built on. I tried the IE addon in FF but it didn't work most of the time.

I experimented with Chrome for about a month before returning to Firefox. The main problem with Chrome is that it takes forever to scroll through your favorites if you have a lot of them.

so far i like it but its only been about an hour.

I have used Chrome before, but as of right now they run at about the same speed. I do not care if a web site loads in 0.25 seconds compared to 0.5 seconds, but that is just me.

I am impressed with how fast Google develops it though.

Firefox and Chrome do not run even close to the same speed. Chrome is in a different league in terms of speed.

With the caveat being, I haven't tested or read about the speed of FF4.

Doesn't hold a candle to Netscape.

I kid, I kid. Going to have to look into FF when the beta is done. I used to use it before switching to Chrome.

I have heard exactly what you are saying and have seen all of the video comparisons, but I have not noticed it in the basic browsing that I do. I meant to say the speed advantages of Chrome compared to firefox are not that noticeable. I am sure that will change though as FF continues to grow and incorporates new features.

I also have not yet tried FF4b.

The biggest issue I have is opening the browser. FF used to be extremely quick. Now it takes as long, or longer, to open as IE.
