I was wondering if someone could edumacate me on the differences and similarities between firefox and internet explorer?

thanks

fire fox is a more secure, faster version of I.E.. They both do the same things both take you to the same cowboyszone.com. its just ff is more secure and loads web pages faster

I've been using FF for a while now and I can't see myself ever going back to IE. There are a lot of good extensions and like Kid said, it's more secure.

Make the switch.

More secure.
You can use tabs to browse multiple sites without opening windows (IE recently copied this)
Extensible. People have written a ton of plugins that you can download and install easily to make it do just about anything you want.

I don't know if I'd call Firefox faster than IE (Especially when you use add-ons), but it's definitely more secure and has better support.

Downside to FF though is that it can be a memory hog, however I'm using the 3.0 Beta and I'm definitely noticing a difference. If I'm not mistaken the release date will be in Jan.

I've been using FF for years. I won't go back to IE. I actually will get mad at Erik if I see him using IE and will ground him off the computer. Go for it... You won't go back to IE or any other browser.

Now if I could get starstruck to make his ******* cowboys layouts FF friendly, I'd be happy. What is transparent in IE isn't in FF.

My wife still uses IE and I am more than happy to let her continue using IE.

That way I keep my bookmarks and homepage the way I want it and she can have her bookmarks and home page where she wants it.

You can say that again. I'm having to unload a slew of them because they're dragging me performance down. They are great but you need a lot of resources.

Hiding your midget clown pron bookmarks again? :D

The only downside I've experienced with Firefox is that, sometimes, some internet applications (like audio and video streaming and some java things) don't work properly for me when I'm using FF.

In those cases, I usually open up IE and it works fine.

There's probably something I can do to fix it, but I'm not technically aware enough to figure it out.

But otherwise I find FF to be totally superior.

Try the IE Tab Add-on...

I for one do not care for Firefox. In my experience it has been much slower than IE. It also annoys me by offering to do things for me that I don't want it to.

I lost those bookmarks...do you still have them.:laugh2:

Opera also used to be a very nice optional browser for those that may not care for Firefox or IE.

Notice I said used to be as I do not know how it is now.

I thought it was a pretty good Clint Eastwood movie the first five times I saw it;Now,I'm not so impressed.

I used it the last couple years at work as well I am IT admin and I hate it when we have a few programs that only run in IE

At my last job I did 90% of my Microsoft share point stuff I did in FF (we used it for updating status reports etc) there where a few things that only worked in IE stupid active X
