The first?
Around the summer of 75 we went to visit family in Bishop California, I was around 10 and at the time my favorite band was the Beatles. My cousin gave me a 8track of Led Zeppelin 2 and it was pretty much mind blowing. Started getting into VH around the winter of 78-79 and considered them more "my band" then Zeppelin as Zep belonged to the previous generation. Also got into Rush/Kiss and Alice Cooper around this same time period 78 or so.

Yep, each generation seems to adopt their own bands from their era and I used to be that way about the Animals, Beatles, Byrds and Stones and then Zep came along and AC/DC, VH and ZZ Top and then so many other great bands all adding their ingredient to the wonderful dish just known as Rock.

I allowed myself to move on every time some new "chefs" would come along and now I appreciate Disturbed, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, Gaslight Anthem, Royal Blood, Silversun Pickups and War on Drugs as much as I appreciate the founding fathers of Rock. That's the beauty of not locking one's musical mind, as so many of my contemporaries have done, there is always room for one more. This dish just keeps gaining more flavor.

Hard Rock not one hit wonders...that's for another thread...
Saw Axe (talk about your one hit wonders) Aldo Nova and Cheep Trick at Sam Houston Colesium back in '83 or so. Nova put on a pretty damn good show.

First Hard Rock band I ever got into? Wow, that was a long time ago. The first Rock music I got into was The Beatles but I guess that's not Hard Rock. I guess Led Zeppelin was the first Hard Rock band I got into but only because of being at the right place at the right time. It could just as easily have been Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath or a host of other acts at the time.
