What's your overall grade? Then what's your pick by pick grade? Starter? Contributor/rotation guy, special teams, wasted (Jerry) pick?
Here's mine. First off, I hope I'm wrong but I'm afraid we will rue not taking Manziel but anyone who doubts Jerry would prefer to win over merely selling tickets should see this as a strong counterpoint. Jerry probably lost a half billion dollars in jerseys and ticket sales by NOT taking him. Anyway, I was also initially mortified that we didn't trade up a bit in the first when Donald fell out of the top 10 and then again when we gave the Skins our third. But overall I give us a B-. I think we got 2-3 possible day 1 starters plus 3-4 strong rotation contributors. My favorite pick was Dixon in the 7th. Believe that will turn out to be a huge steal.
Rd 1) OT Martin: grade A: solid pick, seems like a day 1 starter who will really solidify our OL for a long time
Rd 2 + Rd 3) DE Lawrence: grade B, would be an A except we gave up our third to the stinks, this guy better be a player as we could've easily had another starting OL in the third
Rd 4) LB Hitchens: grade F, huge reach, better players were available
Rd 5) WR Street: grade B+, solid value for a good player who I suspect will contribute quickly
Rd 7a) DE Gardner: grade A, excellent value, I can see him contributing by mid-season
Rd 7b) LB Smith: F, UDFA at best
Rd 7c) S Dixon: A+, love the player, think he's better than anyone we currently have at the position and we got him in the 7th round.
Rd 7d) DT Bishop: A, great pick. Need position, quality player, tremendous value. Could see him getting some rotation time at some point in year 1 (hopefully not because of injuries)

Overall draft B.

Best pick: Ben Gardner A++
Worst pick: Hitchens F-

We still can't get it together when it comes to drafting linebackers. We either take guys with injury issues or we reach horribly. I don't understand how this can keep happening year after year.

When SEA drafted Irvin I believe draft guru's gave them between F's and D's lol. Gotta give the kid a chance before we condemn him to irrelevancy.

Hitchens was a reach for sure but from what I've seen I love his potential and ability. Frederick was a reach, he was a third round prospect, and if that draft was repeated today he would be selected in the top 10.. It's worth it to reach if you are sold on a player.

Hitchens is a MLB in the NFL, he's 6ft and 240 lbs, played for 4 years, he loves contact and has always been a healthy Player. With Lees injury History and the Cowboys lack of STs production it's a much needed depth move @ MLB for a downhill tackler.

Grade him a B at worst.

LB Smith
-Faster 40 than Khalil Mack or Jeremiah Attaochu
-Faster cone than Mack or Attaochu
-Same 3 cone as Telvin Smith, faster Shuttle

Just because you probably never heard of him doesn't make him a crappy player.

Some see Hitchens as a guy that just might have figured it out as a senior

I can't say I love either pick, but Smith seems to have pretty decent measureables and Hitchens had a very solid senior year.

Solid draft but I'm not going to grade it off of known names and unknown names. I loved the guys they were able to snag still available in round 7, Dixon might knock Heath off the roster and for that I'm excited.

Hey I watched plenty of ESPN, CBS and NFL channel specials about the draft plus I perused several draft websites and even read the newspaper about the players in this draft. I also talked to several buddies with various knowledge of sports and football in particular, so yes I was up on the draft. My knee jerk reaction to this draft is a D+. Thank you very much.
