Stephen tried to warn the Rams

So then it worked if they won a SB.

And they have been a serious contender since returning to championship game. Something we haven’t sniffed.

But you’ll attempt to bash success rather than critique our lack of .
Not all, I just like the way so many of you change the definition of success.. especially you.

I'm honestly curious, how the heck did they do it?

The Rams have zero players on their current roster that they drafted in the 1st round.. Zero!

Sigh!

I try not to get into the heads of this family too much, but I was wondering if anyone has come to the same conclusion about the Jones family?

They have a scarcity mindset as opposed to an abundance mindset.

It drives them to make the excuses and the constant drivel that comes out in the interviews.

In the light of a development system, college football, that annually has about 73,000 players of which 16,000 become eligible how can you talk about "young players" and not be enouraged to take some risks cap wise and talent wise?

Unless...all you care about is the money.

Scarcity vs Abundance.
They are about money, success as they define it and comfortability. They see football as an entertainment business. Success means people watch, sales etc. They focus on offense because it gives them a higher entertainment value than defense. If they make the playoffs or close you see them do very little outside of the draft to try and get better because to them their biggest fear is last year where Dallas isn't competitive. So now we see the big changes. They'll have success probably make the playoffs and get bounced early. Next off season they will do very little to try and win a SB outside of drafting players.

Obviously we don’t have the same definition of success if you can’t see the difference from Rams success in recent years compared to ours.

Why is it so difficult to admit or see there are other organizations which are having more success than we are in recent years and this era.

We were in previous eras but not this one.

Huh? I hear way more people bad mouthing them than putting them on
Really? We’ve given billionaires enormous influence over politics, markets, media, and public policy.

So I guess we’re confused. Or maybe you’re seeing people wake up and it hasn’t got here yet. Maybe the data centers are shedding some light?

Rams went all in, and they didn't even go through a rough patch after because they drafted insanely well (Verse, Turner, Puka, Kyren), and they're right back in it. I don't know why the Cowboys are so scared of a year of two of cap hell after going all in for a 2-3 year stretch...thats when you suck and get high picks and ideally get the generational talent to start a run again. You have a much better chance at getting an Aaron Donald, Garrett, etc picking high than in the 18-24 range we usually do as first round exits.
That's why we don't win in the playoffs, Jerry's goal is to be relevant every season. Most super bowl winners have a year or three where they suck and draft high, and the players they get from drafting high are instrumental in their super bowl runs. Aaron Donald for the Rams, I think he went at 11.

Does it matter? They have since torn it down and rebuilt and are again contending…
Yup. Lost by 4 in the NFC champ game last season. Big reason for the trade. Is Myles worth 4 pts? OMG, easily, prolly a lot more than that. Darnold does not have 346 yds passing w/ Myles in his face, and Rams most likely win that game and the super bowl.

Not "given".

It has always been that way. Won't ever change.

Couple of biggies:

Poona Ford in FA
Intelligent drafting in Fiske in the 2nd and Turner in the 3rd.

Other FAs: Davante Adams, Colby Parkinson, Kamren Curl, Darious Williams, Witherspoon.

Basically, they understand who to sign in FA. DTs and Ss and OLs. Doesn't hurt to get lucky at OLT w/ a UDFA in Alaric Jackson.

Just smart team building overall. Fill in the important positions of OL and DL, and then go out and get the rest. Myles Garrett should be the final piece.

Draft picks;

You can use them to acquire players who you hope can play in the NFL

or

You can use them to acquire players you know can play in the NFL.

As are their fans.
LOL, you don't realize this is a self own.

I live up in Eagles country. They laugh at fans like you that are utterly defensive of the organization despite the fact they have failed for nearly 3 decades. They actually don't mind the fans that rightfully call out the folly that is this current frnachise.

How does Philly do it then?
Their owner is great. Their GM is arguably the best in football. They are aggressive and utilize every trick in the book to manage the cap. They built a high quality roster.

Siriani is a meathead for sure but you don't go to two SBs by sheer dumb luck. He's very good at being the cat herder for the team but they need quality assistants, which they have had in the past. You can see their "off" years came when they made questionable assistant coaching decisions. It remains to be seen if Mannion was a quality hire for them. If he is not, they will scuffle again.

The Jonses are content on just making the playoffs. That is their goal. And they typically try to build teams that can do that, if they fail that is when they make big changes. That is why they happily run things back after getting bounced early in the playoffs, they were good enough to get in which translates to success/goal achieved for them. They failed last year so we saw all the big changes this off season. We have never seen this Team get bounced in the playoffs and the Jonses say that wasn't good enough and then actually try to improve the team.
This is excellent. Very well said. The sad truth.

If Dallas lost the NFCCG last year they’d absolutely have ran it all back. The Rams added two All-Pros on defense.

They misevaluate constantly. They think losing in the playoffs is bad luck, not about not being good enough. This is exactly why the results will never change. They have no self awareness or ability to read the situation with the roster. It doesn’t help that they don’t hire anyone that would tell them they are wrong. It’s almost like we don’t watch football anymore, it’s a tv show in which the Joneses are perpetually trying to prove that they are right.

I love it when an Eagle fan, like yourself it seems, laughs at me. Thank you for the great feedback.

And has no idea why we won 3 super bowls in the 90s. Those were D juggernauts w/ major talent on the DLine.
That second team defense could have been a starting unit for a team that would have been pretty good.

The depth was ridiculous. That’s why Jerry was able to hang on for another little while before it all went to hell. Hence the Parcells comment some years later about how in two years you’ll never know he was ever here.

I really don’t get how anyone can claim that Jerry had anything at all to do with personnel when Jimmy was here. The way the moves are made alone tells you that it’s not the same person pulling the strings. But whatever. Thats Jerrys thing….proving to the world that he can do it too. I’d ask this….why is he so hell-bent on proving himself if he has already done it?

Myles Garret playoffs: 3 games, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 2 QB hits, 6 tackles.

Micah Parson playoffs (with Cowboys): 3 games, 3 TFL, 4 QB hits, 18 tackles.

And we love to talk about how Micah disappeared in playoff games here when it mattered the most.

Just pointing out that nothing is a given.

A buddy of mine in LA says he's hearing A Donald may be coming back out of retirement for this SB run. Won't that be a kick in the butt.
