But is about what is expected for day 1. See how long before Diggs takes over for Brown. Then will Brown move to slot over Lewis. I am ok with either on thee actually.

Nickel defense is basically the new base defense in today's NFL. Plus, there's no contact in these initial practices so I don't think they're doing much running other than a walkthrough.

I'm not reading anything into it other than they came out in a nickel alignment.

McCoy and Crawford were the 'starting' defensive tackles, so that tells me that they were putting a rush package out there rather than a base.

Most definitely. And if I'm honest, I think he will be out there in nickel quite a bit as well, unless he's hit the wall physically and slowed down. I expect Jaylon to get quite a bit of coaching this year. He needs it.

The offense is a 3 WR set base offense so the defense would have to start the slot CB instead of a LB.

Nah to me he shows no natural instincts on the outside. Even his college tape was pretty weak in that department. He really shined inside at nickel because he is big and physical

Idc who they would start because it hasn't worked. My outside 2 would be diggs and lewis with brown and chido battling over the nickel. Chido is great in the nickel role. He was graded the best corner blitzer while at colorado. Opens up a lot of possibilities for the staff to work with. He also can play stout in the run game. Also big enough to be physical with TE's. He's just weak in a 1v1 island type setting. He wasn't even our best outside corner in 2017. It was J lew.
