first three games w/o Newman-OK

Giants, Maimi, Chicago- none of them have enough talent in QB and WR to really burn us badly. If TNew needs that much time to heal well then I am for keeping him out. The FOURTH game, thought, against St Louis, we WILL need him. They do have the QB and WRs to fry us.
Grossman plays out of his mind about three times a season so don't be surprised if luck would have it that it happened against a wounded Cowboy team, they do have a couple of blazing fast wideouts.

Giants, division rivals are tough no matter the records and the talent on the rosters, the intangibles make people step up, Dallas hasn't spanked New York since 1998, all other contests since then have been nail biters for better or worse.

I don't know much about this incarnation of the Dolphins except that the quarterback position is shaky but playing on the road is tough so i expect Cam Cameron to have a few wrinkles for his former coaching mate.

Every victory must be ground out, no gimme's in this world nor sport.

Henry can pick up some of the slant- he is healthy and a very solid CB. If Aaron has truly lost it then we are really in deep guano. But I think he has enough left to handle most #2s around. Henry can man on Plaxico, and I think Glenn can hold his own with Chambers, or Toomer. Our worry will be more when we have to go to the nickel- is any of our young CBs good enough to hold their own there?

Well I hope under Wade Phillips, our #1 CB will be covering their #1 WR and our #2 CB will be covering their #2 WR. Previously our CB's just played a side of the field (Left or Right) and it wouldn't matter which WR lined up on their side. The offense loves this because they can create mismatches very easily.

One thing I hated was the fact that Newman was assigned to the slot guy all the time. Usually Glenn would be outside on a nickel package (almost always the LCB). I still have flash backs of the skins and Santana Moss exploiting Glenn on the outside in that monday night game.

They say the slot is the hardest position to cover cause the slot WR has all of the field to work with, but i'd still rather have my #1 on their #1.

Up untill his injury, I was hoping that Wade would be willing to do what we did when we had Deion- put Newman man on man with the other teams #1 and let him take the guy completely out of the game. That would allow us to concentrate on shutting down the others. Now.....

I cannot see how you pick us to go to the SB with our secondary - Eyes light up when they our back 4 ...

Now we lose every game that Newman does not play in...

I feel your pain, burmafrd, I feel your pain. But, there is always next year...

I have a feeling St. Louis will do some damage to the Dallas defense...

Everything will be fine, I hear Jerry Jones is gonna sign Kareem Abdul Jabbar to cover the big WRs for us. We're set.

The pt was their D blows chunks, period. If we have to get into a shootout at TX Stadium with them, I have no fear.

Dont be homers.. The Giants can very easilly beat our butts on any given Sunday. Just like We can beat theirs.

With the NFC east you never know...Trust me.

Eli gets off to strong starts, FWIW. It's in Dec he fades.

HUH?

you think the giants dont have the talent, your crazy. They are very talented and will have toomer, burress, shockey, smith and jacobs. you think that is a bad group? I sure dont. And all this bagging on eli manning is moronic.

Today you say we should beat them no problem, based on nothing.

If we lose to them and newman doesnt play you will be here complaining about wade phillips. and lookout if we lose to miami, you will want everyone fired.

Sorry theebs, but the G-men suck now that Tiki is on TV. Coughlin is so gone after this year it is not even funny.

Jacobs as an every down back....I dont think so.

Have you actually seen what they have for an o-line.....terrible.

We blow this team out with a healthy Newman.:)

1. Tiki wrecked that locker room even more so than TO did in SF/Philly

2. Coughlin isn't as bad as everyone says he is. Maybe he micromanages the game too much, but he's OK

3. We don't know-Jacobs is in his 3rd year now

4. Luke P is the only one missing, and he was injury prone and lacked concentration-it's the same line they played against 3rd philly game, and it played well in that game

5. I dunno-like we said, Eli plays great...it's only Dec he doesn't

My worst fear is that after the G-men suck it up this year, they bring in Cowher next year. He would get them good relatively quick, he is an excellent coach.

That would suck having to play against Cowher twice a year.:bang2:

Why is everyone so HIGH on Cowher? This is the same guy who choked away 3/4 AFC Title games at home(it could have been 4 'cuz that pass at the end was SO close to being caught by that Indy receiver).

And despite their magical run a couple of years ago, that Super Bowl was obviously fixed so that the Bus could get his ring. Otherwise, Cowher's game planning wasn't all that.

Even if his foot needs to be amputated, Terence will be out there on his pegleg...could we install a spring in that prosthetic device, to enable jumps up into Plaxico's strike zone?

Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams WR Torry Holt (knee) said he knee is "about 70, 80 percent" and it will likely bother him the entire season. "I'm just taking it light. I'm trying to really continue to work it and keep it strong and at the same time get some reps, which I'm able to do (in practice). That's going to help me ... as I get ready to go for the opener," Holt said.

Maybe we could man Newman on him all game and see who's got the better remaining leg.

Asking Burm not to be a homer is like asking the sun to cool off.

The sun just isn't the sun unless it's hot. Burm just isn't burm unless he's spewing with homerism (especially Notre Dame homerism).

Yup. Things are likely to become even worse when the Cowboys go to the nickel. .... I assume Glenn would take the slot, leaving Reeves/Thomas/etc. to play opposite Henry.

I'm glad that Wade's pressure defense is in place. If all goes according to plan, at least part of the time the opposing QBs will be too busy avoiding the rush to take advantage of the weakest link in the secondary.

The Rams can do damage to any defense and the addition of Drew Benett adds to that cause.

Unlike some on this site, I have managed to watch some of the giants games this preseason. Their O line will be in trouble as soon as it runs up against a good D line. Or nasty LBs in a 3-4. Eli will be on the run or on his back a lot. their running game will not force the D to really worry about it as when they had Tiki. that makes a BIG difference.
