I don't care what any of you say.

I will watch our win over the unbeaten Colts and dream of a title we could have had.
Not only could have been, but should have been. There is no doubt in my mind that we were the most dangerous team in the NFC and faded down the stretch.

At the time though the Colts were able to compensate for their poor performing defense. The Cowboys game was the start of a tumble for the Colts. But they righted their ship when they headed into the playoffs.

So did the Houston Texans. Hey, the Texans fans must be pumped. They proved they can play with anybody. Big deal. The NFC is awful and the Cowboys couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs in that conference but I guess they can play with anybody. Except the eight teams they lost to in 2006.

Feel the same way.

It was interesting listening to Parcells on WFAN. He really felt we were turning the corner defensively in that Seattle game.

We lost that game for all the wrong/worst reasons.
Bad calls and unforced turnovers.:banghead:

I truely believe we would have put a hurtin on the Bears the following week and faced the Saints in New Orleans for the NFC.

Whoa, that is true. How 'bout dem Lions???? ;)

I personally like the fact that, in large part, any given team can win the Super Bowl every year. It's not like baseball where the same teams (Yanks, Red Sox, Cardinals) are basically in the playoffs every year.

Every fan, every season, has a chance to be optimistic. Well...maybe not Cardinals fans. :laugh2:

That's true, I think it shows the amount of talent in the NFL. That's what makes the game fun to watch. You never know what's gonna happen, except grossman throwing multiple pics I think everyone saw that coming.

We should all be optimistic.
We haven't had this much talent since 1996.
We haven't had a QB of this caliber since 1998.

This is the third straight year I honestly believe the team has improved it's position.

After our FA signings and draft of 2005. I was fairly optimistic.
I debated with others about the teams chances with Bledsoe at QB.

My point at the time was that this was the best team with more potential than any we've had since 1998.
Bledsoe was the first legitimate starting QB for this team since Aikman retired and our 2005 draft looked as if it would really help our defense.
Playoffs were a distinct possibilty.

Coming into this season I felt there was reason for even more optimisim and that the Superbowl was not out of reach.

Parcells retirement does create a certain amount of uncertainty.
However, with Romo's assent and a new voice/direction for our defensive talent, I have more optimisim than ever.

The NFL has turned to such crap these days. Honestly, do you really feel you for certain you saw the best team in the NFC play the best team from the AFC? I think Dallas could beat either of them. And that's not saying all that much.

that's the truth. I honestly feel like the Chargers were much better than the Colts and that the Bears and Saints were both garbage. But who was left in the NFC?
I honestly feel like Chicago would've had a better go of it if they weren't playing in slop. They are a defensive team and the defense has to be a half step faster than an offense. The slop mitigated that. The wet ball was the only thing that hurt the offenses.
I was trying to think of the last time a team I thought was REALLY GOOD won the SB...I'm still trying to go back..I think Denver was probably the last REALLY GOOD team to win the SB. Just about every winner since then has been crap.

Denver was the last team that was really good- not as good as our best but a top team. The Salary cap/FA had not yet had a chance to get them- but right after their second win Elway retired and they lost some other guys and it was all over.

IMO, the '03 Pats were the last really good Super Bowl team, 3 regular season shut-outs
