Maybe it was for a 2nd in 2024..Texans said no..Texans are crazy for not taking a 2nd and eating his cap hit.

The comp is determined by many factors and most of which is contractI sure hope that's not true.
If so, it's laughable. Gave away a 10X better WR who is younger and making nearly equal salary for a 5th round pick. The worst move in recent memory.
No, the guaranteed salary for 2023 would be inherited by the Cowboys. Already paid signing bonuses would be kept agaisnt the Texans cap.The guaranteed is more of an issue for Houston, their the ones that have to eat all the dead money so that's why they want a good pick.
Cowboys if they had traded for him, it would have been 2.5 year contract for 34.5 million total with none of it guaranteed
Agreed that it wasn't a great deal for either side but Houston would of eaten a large bulk of the contract (20 million they would have to pay in prorated bonuses ontop of the money already been paid for the first half of this year)
He’s signed 2 more yearsI don’t believe Fish. The Cowboys would have to give Cooks a new contract for a second round pick and I can’t see them paying Gallup, Cooks and CeeDee. Does not make financial sense.
He’s signed for 2 more years and it’s cheap the following yearCooks is also a salary issue, as in $18 million guaranteed next season.
Yeah I just read that about that specific clause. Would really only be an issue if you wanted him on an ultra-short rental (18 guaranteed over 2.5 seasons is nothing)No, the guaranteed salary for 2023 would be inherited by the Cowboys. Yeah all the 2023 clause does is prevent a team from trying to rent him for only 0.6 million this year (remaining 2022 base rate) and then immediately dumping him. He’s signed for 2 more years and it’s cheap the following year
Can’t really judge a contract by one year
Cooks is 20x the locker room cancer than Cooper is. Cooks has been traded like 8 timesI don’t think the reason for letting Cooper go was a talent vs salary issue.
I think the Bears has the 3rd rank pass defense, it's their rushing defense that is like 22nd or so
I sure hope that's not true.

I heard it here the Cowboys FO is full of idiots for not going all in and getting Cooks....I'm putting this in the category of
"Sometimes the best trades are the ones not made."
(Or, something like that, lol.... you get the drift.)
Why Dallas wanted to give them a 2nd for Cooks and Houston would have to eat part or all of the guarantee for next year, they already were on the hook for all the guaranteed money he got for the new contract he signed this year. At that point just keep him and cut/trade him in the off season. If he throws a tantrum even better because they can probably get out of the contract all together.I don’t buy this. No way do the Texans turn down a second round pick.
That would of been a terrible trade on all fronts:draft capital plus his huge contract. Sign a Obj or Fuller to a team friendly 1yr deal instead

I seriously doubt this…..unless it was a 2025 2nd (which can be trade for a 2023 4th and some so e change
we did not offer a 2023 2nd
