It is easier to include the option year and it also allows them to pro-rate the initial signing bonus

But there is no reason to guarantee it ..... it is a Team Option, not a Player Option.... the team still keeps the control..... it just brings TC injuries into play

So why not just have a two year deal? That allows you to prorate the bonus. What is this option doing?

Ideally the team will also pick up another FA WR, or resign Beasley OR draft a receiver.

Unfortunately, most of us are just so jaded at this point, justifiably so, that we don’t trust the FO to do that.

Well, I suppose I trust them to draft somebody if available in the draft, but not sign a quality FA.

Half their talent acquisition process has been good - the draft. They kind of stink at FA.

You have to include the massive cap space they've accumulated while still winning the division when evaluating their free agent signings.

Lack of speed had shortened the field for us for years. It's better with Cooper and Gallup as our starters, but I'd rather they be the slow wrs than the fast ones.

Not a smart use of financial resources.

Hard to see it justified based on last year's production. Though Hurns' season is odd.

They thought a lot of him. Thought he could be a low budget 1.

Let's hope we get the guy from 7 on, and that his production can scale with more targets. Could happen.

Though I wouldn't count on him playing the slot. They could move Cooper into the slot when Hurns comes in instead.

What most fans don't understand is the Cowboys WR strategy is to have a diverse group of players that can play any receiving position, meaning there will be no set position for any of our WRs. One play Hurns could be in the slot position and the next play Cooper could be in the slot position. We didn't have this option when Dez was the 1WR because he could not play the slot, which is how Beas became so important. This is also another reason Beas is most certainly not coming back. Don't forget about Cedric Wilson, folks. This young man should make a very positive contribution to the team in 2019. I'm not sure what to expect from Hurns in 2019, mainly because of the lack of updates on his recovery.

I'm not sure they're done at the TE position at all. Don't rule out them still signing Eifert AND drafting one of the top 3-4 at 58. Two years ago they overhauled the secondary. Last year they overhauled the WR unit. This could very be the year they do the same to the TE unit. I've said this before, Witten was more an intangible signing. We STILL need a full-time quality starting TE. This is why I would rule out Eifert being still very much in the pic as a starter. IF/when he gets hurt, we're sill good shape with a rookie (58) and part-time Witten.
