You’re assuming Irvin even gets hurt once Aikman realizes all he has to do is lob it up to Moss for instant TDs. LOL

Don’t disagree though that Moss did himself a favor playing on the Vikings instead of the mess on our roster during the “Jerry Learning Years.”
Drafting Moss wouldn’t have prevented Irvin’s injury unless you believe he would’ve never been targeted again. Lol

This is a paid Cowboys beat reporter, blogger, insider that thinks Greg Ellis went to UT?

After the pick is brought up and lamented @ least once per year.

I mean, that's terrible. Absolutely terrible.
Where are y’all seeing these varied references to Greg Ellis’ college - certainly not in the link provided??

No - but we wouldn’t have felt the effects so greatly if we’d have had Randy.

Too many fans think had we drafted him the team would’ve never declined and won more championships and that’s not true. All our great players that we won championships with were aging. We brought in Rocket Ismail and he had 1000 yard season for us. Neither him or Joey Galloway made a huge difference because the team was in decline. I’m certainly not saying Randy Moss wouldn’t have made us a little better but we simply didn’t have the team around him to take advantage of him. He would have only played two full seasons Aikman before he was done. Nothing that’s said is ever going to stop fans from speculating on what could have been had we drafted him.

Had the Cowboys drafted Moss, he would have only been paired with Michael Irvin for one full season. His career ended after four games during the 1999 season. By 2000 the team was showing deep decline. When Moss arrived in Minnesota, they had a lot of talent, especially at receiver. They had Jake Reed and Chris Carter who took Moss under his wing. This gave Moss a lot of opportunities to make plays. The following year, the Vikings drafted Daunte Culpepper, who was a pretty good young QB with a big arm.
Could you imagine Irvin with Moss and the influence he would have had on Randy as comparted to Jake Reed and Cris Carter who brought himself out of the depths of despair.

We didn't have the support system that Minnesota gave that young man. Most of Dallas was reeling from the Irvin scandal and the hijinx of the White House.

Gailey was the recipient of the crap and Jones gave him no indication that he had put in place a structure that would make things different.

There is only truly one man to blame for the decision not to draft Randy Moss. That was Michael Irvin. He cut the knees out of the Cowboys for the post 90's era.

Moss is lucky he never ended up with the Cowboys because he would’ve never had the career in Dallas that he had in Minnesota. The Cowboys were on the decline as was Troy Aikman. Once Aikman was released the Cowboys had nothing at QB, plus the OL was in shambles. Just look at the career Joey Galloway had with the Cowboys. We didn’t have a QB or the pass protection to could get the ball down the field to him. He was an excellent receiver, but he didn’t work out with us. However, he had a some productive seasons in Tampa after we traded him. We needed a possession receiver who could catch the ball in traffic and move the chains, which is why we swapped Galloway for Keyshawn Johnson. Moss would’ve been very unhappy with the Cowboys and probably would have caused problems.
Wrong. The Cowboy would have drafted Drew Brees in the first round in 2001 to replace Aikman. But they didn't have a first round pick because they traded their 2000 & 2001 first round picks for Joey Galloway. They wouldn't have done that if the Cowboys had Moss.

Never seen anything where the Cowboys would’ve drafted Drew Brees in the first round had they had the pick. It’s possible they would have in the second round but not the first round. Jerry was in love with Quincy Carter who he thought resembled Donovan McNabb. He traded up for Quincy Carter. If you wanted Drew Brees he would’ve attempted to trade up for him. It is true they wouldn’t have traded two number ones for Joey Galloway had they drafted Moss.

Funny how many apologies Jerry has to hand out....as if that's gonna get him into the pearly gates.

You made your bed Jerry....

What are you talking about? Randy Moss said that Jerry apologized to him on the Rich Eizen show if that is what you are implying to.
Just Fish in general. Wasn't exactly singling out that article.

Jerry’s biggest blunder and that’s really saying a lot. Then it lead to the Galloway trade, probably his second biggest next to some of the most ridiculous coaching hires.

Biggest blunder was Galloway no doubt. Moss would have made no difference.

BUT THEN what are the odds we would used the draft picks well anyway?

So in the end neither mattered.

He went out and made that trade because of the backlash of not drafting Moss. The domino effect of a very poor decision that just lead to more poor decisions. Meanwhile his 32 year old WR was the deciding factor on why he didn’t draft him. Moss probably doesn’t help anyway since the team was a mess but we do know going in the opposite direction just added to the clown show.

Its becoming annoying when Jerry does this. I mean props to him for his apology but you hype up Randy when you drafted Greg Ellis who yeah wasn't what Moss was but had a very good career. It just sucks that Ellis has to take shots in favor of Moss.

But I respect Jason Garrett's dad lol.....

One of Jones’ top scouts, the late Jim Garrett (Jason’s father), tried to talk Jerry into doing the right thing by literally climbing atop a desk and barking in a staff meeting, “This isn’t the Boy Scouts! This is the NFL!”One of Jones’ top scouts, the late Jim Garrett (Jason’s father), tried to talk Jerry into doing the right thing by literally climbing atop a desk and barking in a staff meeting, “This isn’t the Boy Scouts! Its funny Jason lived by the "RKG" and his dad was like screw that go get Moss lol.
