ITEM: I don’t have permission to reveal much yet; the two players’ agents want to pick through my conversations with the guys before we go ahead and write it. So I’ll just tease you a little bit:

There is no shortage of superstar NFL defensive linemen that would like to leave their present clubs to become Cowboys. One of the two guys is not a perfect fit because he’s a 4-3 guy. The other one, though, is to die for. And he’d just about die to be in Dallas.
Stay tuned.

ITEM: My skillionth effort to prove to you that Jerry Jones is a genius: Hanging around this weekend’s rookie minicamp at Valley Ranch: Emmitt Smith to advise running backs; Roger Staubach to comment on some kids’ character; Barry Switzer to tap the keg.

Jerry knows how to throw a minicamp! They were a few speakers and Snoop Dogg away from Mitch-a-palooza.

ITEM: Your reaction to the news about backup QB Richard Bartel’s weight change reveals whether you are a glass-is-half-empty Cowboys fan or a glass-is-half-full Cowboys fan. Bartel has dropped 30 pounds since last season?

a) Wow! What a hard worker! He must’ve really spent a lot of time tailoring his body to the needs of the team!
b) Bartel weights 230 now. He lost 30 pounds. Wow. … last year he must’ve looked like John Daly with his shirt off.

Nah on Bartel, he probably got rid of 30 lbs of muscle he didn't need. Now with me, that would be the other stuff.

I cannot express enough just how wrong this is. How can anybody leave a man hangin' like that?!? My guess is one of 'em is Jason Taylor, maybe Albert Haynesworth ? Anybody else?

I'm so freakin tweakin I cant even think of the linebackers name from Baltimore, help me.

Jason Taylor and Ray Lewis that's who he's talkin' about I'll bet money on it!

D-lineman who would just about die to be in Dallas? has to be a 3-4 guy since he qualified the other as a 4-3.

Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Chargers, Browns, Steelers, & 49ers would be the teams.

Best candidates...

Ty Warren, Patriots
Richard Seymour, Patriots
Jamal Williams, Chargers
Luis Castillo, Chargers
Casey Hampton, Steelers

That would be one to die for and one that don't quite fit the 3/4

For some reason, I thought of Haynesworth, too...

I dunno who else it could be. Tommie Harris for the 43 guy?

Edit, good call on Jamal Williams... Best years playing for Wade.

You would have to think it's players who would want out of where they are. I'm stickin' to Taylor and Lewis. We all know about Taylors situation and Lewis is up for contract next year.

that was my first thought.

My second is, does he play end? Does he stand up and move around?

Does he cost 100 million bucks?

Duh Ray Lewis isn't a d-lineman. Sorry my stupidity is runnin' away with me today.

He's a DE 6' 7" around 280 I think...

I also think he is in the last year of his deal, but I could be wrong...

Taylor may be the 4-3 guy. Lewis is not a D-lineman.

Yeah that is what I mean. He is a great pass rusher and can stop the run, but he is so athletic he can stand up and move around.

So I guess both and he will break the bank of someone. I was thinking he would end up with the skins.
