This scouting department needs to be revamped, then.

I haven't completely went through all their draft board yet but there really isn't that many guys that didn't make a roster and the ones that didn't I think are all on practice squads.

One positive that I noticed was that some of the late-round OL on the board have stuck and apparently made positive impressions with their teams. I have a feeling the Cowboys were hoping that Quessenberry got caught in a numbers game for the Texans. But that said, the DL evaluations look atrocious and not even remotely on the same page as the defensive coaching staff. Kiffin and Marinelli might be new to the team, but not to the NFL. The Tampa 2 is a staple and any half competent scout should know what to look for in that type of lineman

It could have also easily been a numbers game with Minnesota which has two established DT's and drafted Floyd.

I thought that at first, which is why I wondered why Dallas didn't put in a claim for him. Then I reached out to my scouting consultant, the Google, which said that Dawkins hadn't made much of an impression in the preseason and had even been outplayed by a FSU teammate who joined the Vikes as an UDFA. Both were cut.

But it sounds like they at least thought enough of him to put him on the practice squad

They'd better save it for an OL, or DL. Goodness! How many 7th round picks do we need?

As many as we can possibly get. Trading bubble guys for future picks is good business and not anything to complain about.

I think we are starting to see a new trend on NFL rosters.....More UDFA have made the roster across the NFL than ever before. This affects some good serviceable veterans, such as Steerling Moore, Johnathan Dywer (pitt) and even Lissemore who got cut or traded to save money....Ask Danny McCray who took a $500,000 pay cut just to stay on the roster......NFL teams are getting rid of veteran players (JAGs) with guaranteed salary. Only to pick them up or replace them after the 1st game of the season....with no Guarantee with min cap hit... That little NFL rule guarantee's the players salary if your on the roster on 1st game of the season is coming back to haunt JAG players but does give a lot of UDFA opportunities they never had......

Its all about the cap hit when it comes to JAGs vs UDFA (Moore vs Heath)

How did I get that looney avatar......how in the heck can I get rid of it.....uuuugh

I think it's ignorant to have 4 CB's on the roster, especially when one is banged up. Maybe Frampton can play CB but I doubt he does it well.

They wouldn't keep 4 unless they think one of the safeties can play it in a pinch. Between that and the practice squad, they probably don't see it as near the issue as some fans do.

Is the Rowdy avatar the default avatar on here? Anyone who doesn't pick their own gets stuck with it. That would explain why so many have it when it is so very very awful, lol. So probably need to override it by picking your own avatar out I'd guess to get rid of it.

Right? Or is there some kind of club we don't all know about?

I think we liked both Moore and Pellerin and figure one of those guys will very likely be there when we're done juggling.

And, I agree, we probably think we can plug in one of the S in a pinch in the meantime. I also think we were determined to get a ST unit on the filed that we can win with, and that turned out to be a problem with the roster we had in camp.

Just like they don't see the OL or DL as near the issue as some fans do....correct!?!?

Just cause its CBs so it meets your agenda doesn't mean the team is siding with your viewpoint, they just don't have any talent at CB other than those 4 guys.

I see you're down with the sickness.

I can assure you only in Dallas is the 5th, 6th, 7th and so on CB spots a worry. No team has this "talent" you speak of.

I'm not sick, just see both sides. CBs and pass rushers are both premium positions and both needed, but no need to go there. Right now, my concern is with the DL and all its injuries, we really need some luck there until we can put more resources into it.

Hopefully we add another DL.

The talent the Cowboys had at the 5th CB spot is comparable, and IMO, better than most of the rest of the league.

You mean the talent that is now on the street?

Bet we could get a late pick for Costa or Berny as our backups, something we couldn't do with anyone we had at 5th CB.
