Fisher = Henson to be dumped

3.1 million cap hit, 1 million for a vet to replace him = no money left to sign Price or anybody else.

That 3.1 comes off if we trade him, cut him to practice squad him, or release him out right.

Thanks for clarifying, BZ.

Since the cut would be taking place after June 1st, the accelerated signing bonus portion of Henson's salary wouldn't count against the cap until '06. The 'Boys may actually save money (against the '05 cap) by cutting Henson now.

Still don't like it. There aren't many #3 QBs with as much upside as Henson.

Nope, it's not a signing bonus, he did not get a signing bonus.

They quranteed him money with voidable years, because they had to fit him under the rookie pool.

He gets cut or traded he gets paid, and it comes off the cap.

It was just reported on ESPN Radio that Bill Parcells has talked Jackie Slater into coming out of retirement.

It was also reported that the reason LT hasn't shown up at cowboys practice yet is cuz he's currently training to get ready for a comeback... with the Dallas Cowboys.

Why dump anyone.I personally could care less who takes over,
i just hope that person is on the team already, and will have become
the leader this team needs.Afterall,Bill has done wonders with so so
quarterbacks,so why be so impatient.

I'm not worried about it either. I have confidence in Romo.

Acutally, I would believe this before I would believe they would dump Henson.

Can we close/lock stupid (content related) threads after the first post? Thanks.

Nope - Romo is #2.

Doubt they dump Henson also.

I doubt they dump him too. It would be too logical. I like Romo, but he is clearly a 3rd stringer. We definitely need a vet who can back up Bledsoe or replace him if he falters, if we're serious about going to the playoffs this year or next year. I had hoped that Parcells would have a positive influence on Jones with regard to good decision-making. Now it seems we're going in reverse. That's what that recent article about the sad state of NFL backup qbs' was talking about. Even teams like the Colts are taking huge risks with crappy backups. In the old days, teams would rely on solid backups like Steve Young,Steve Bono in San Fran, or Frank Reich in Buffalo or Steve Beurlein, Bernie Kosar in Dallas. Now days teams are stuck with 3rd, 4th and 5th stringers as the number 2 guy.
