Five franchise tags for DL players, can they all be greedy?

It seems like there's a loosely coordinated effort among NFL owners to reign in salaries a bit on every position except quarterback.

Especially receivers and running backs. Owners are tired of diva receivers and the rapid decline of running backs from getting beaten up.

I guess Stan Kroenke missed the RB memo lol.

We'll see how Jerry and Co handles the Cooper deal. Has the same agent that Mack had.

And Kroenke is paying for it now. Gurley was diagnosed with an arthritic knee, which is not good for a RB.

What's the read here? Clowney, Jarrett, Clark, DLaw, Ford, all getting tagged. Conclusion or different interpretation of DL players value coz the two defensive players Mack and Donald play different positions but are paid almost identical. For example, in some eyes, DLaw is arguably a top 5 DLman but when you break his position down from DLman to DE it impacts his salary negatively. Other words, could DLaw be looking for a contract in line with DLmen as a whole vs Cowboys thinking DE. The same for Jarrett, is it possible his people are thinking DLmen or Donald ( DT ) type money vs Falcon thinking DT.

Not sure how many remember how it appears the owner bent over backward devaluing the safety position ( ironically it appears Earl Thomas is trying to reset it (lol) ). Makes me wonder if that what we're seeing here with DL position.

But the weirdest thing is seeing little or no attempt to get a handle on the out-of-control QB salaries.
yes they all can, they saw what Mack and Donald got and think they all deserve it.. the one up market next man up BS has to be stopped by someone because we cant have 20mil player at every postion, its not the way the cap and team salarys are balanced..at some point like they did with rookie salarys etc this will all level off and teams have to look at even QBs and say NO you are not worth 30 kick rocks..

Exactly the kinda thing OP is thinking......

The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs could soon have a grievance to deal with as it pertains to Jadeveon Clowney and Dee Ford, Jesse Reed of Sportsnaut reports.

Both teams used the non-exclusive franchise tag to lock up these pass rushers for the 2019 season, and both are registered as having done it under the linebacker position, per NFL communications after the deadline had passed.

Every players agent is asking for donald type money, hyping up their players value etc. No owner wants to set the market and cripple his team by signing stupid money to good players that are not close to donald. Tagging them now disallows the agents from talking to other teams and further driving up prices for these rushers.
