Five Things to Watch - Texans' perspective

I don't think that's true. I think most people on the forum thought he'd be a good player, but also thought his build and his injury history would prove to be his shortcoming in the NFL...something that won't be settled for some time.

That was the knock on AP coming in to the NFL .

And the majority of the people on this board thought that Slaton was going to suck! I knew he was going to be a steal....of course....that's still to be told. I'm happy with who we got. Felix is a difference maker.

The man hasn't even step on the field for a single regular season game. As Parcells used to say, "Put the anointing oil away."

John McClain the Houston sports writer was talking about him yesterday. While they like the way he runs they don't expect him to see much action until he learns how to block. McClain mentioned the same thing BP once said if an NFL running back can't block he is no good us all he will do is get your QB killed and that happened in the Denver game when Slaton missed a critical block and almost got Sage Rosenfels killed.

I thought Slaton had been mentioned in a favorable light quite often... Not as often as Rice, but quite often.

His injury history, yes, but not his build. Slaton is fighting the odds on both ends. He's not built to take the abuse an NFL RB sees over the course of several seasons.

I thought so too. I think this RB class will prove to be one of the best ever.

thats true.

I liked Slaton, at the time (in my mocks) I had us taking CB and WR in the first and filling other holes before stealing Slaton later to complement Barber.

But so far so good, just sucks he ended up on the Texans.

man steve slaton is a baller we should went Mendenhall Slaton instead of Choice/Jones
Time will tell on that one. Don't count our duo out yet. Choice looks like he could turn out to be somebody.

yea picking Choice was the only bright spot in the draft for me other wise I would have played Russian roulette with a fully loaded pistol

Sorry does not change what was said my McClain yesterday that according to what coaches have told him Slaton has a lot of work to do as a blocker before given a bigger role.
