Fixing up the middle-Mock Draft based on Postseason

Outside of Bolton, McGrone is the only other LBr I’d take in the 2nd with our pick as I see a drop off after him.

I wouldn’t take any of the rest until the 3rd but that list doesn’t overly excite me.

I'm hoping for a Browning/Cox being there for us in the 3rd rd.

I like it. McGrone has been a pet cat of mine since Dallas’ season ended, so I really like that pick. He might go sooner but that position sometimes slides.

Slater is a really good player and if defense isn’t there, I’d be fine with him. He would give a lot of security to the offensive line. He can play just about anywhere and do it at a level above just about anyone Dallas has except for Martin and (maybe) Smith.

Grant I like and is a target of mine in round 2 and the same goes for McNeil in round 3 (although he might go in the second).

Adebo is a fallback plan for me like Newsome in case they don’t draft a corner earlier. I like his play a lot.

Turner I like but not as much as all the rest.

Newsome is one of my pet cats, I do not know why he isn't talked about too much. See him as a 2nd rd player. This simulation had him rated at 87, but I see him be slotted more around the top 60.

I'm hoping for a Browning/Cox being there for us in the 3rd rd.

They are popular names but I'm not sure they're going to be an upgrade. Instincts / ability to diagnose is a negative in scouting reports for both...so we'd be looking to replace Jaylon with a similar player to Jaylon. + athlete with - instincts.

I see instinct roles for both:

Browning as a strong-side LB-he has the ability to set the edge, rush and can holdup in coverage.

Cox is more your nickel linebacker that excels in coverage.

I don't think neither are the future answers at the Mike, but could be quality outside, off the ball types.

I get it, but if we’re drafting a LBr in the top 75ish picks I don’t want him to be a limited player.

I don’t feel great about either developing into a starting 3 down backer.

If we want a 2 down SAM or a nickel defending LBr roll TE dice on a late rounder.

The Cowboys always have developed their linebackers to be able to play all three positions. As rookies they can have specific roles to get their feet wet, where later on a more expanded role will be the expectation. Both Browning/Cox have three down potential, but they may need some development and are certainly worth the pick at 75.

I guess we just agree to disagree here. You can teach and develop a prospect...but with instincts the kid usually either has them or he doesn't. This is why I'd take someone like Bolton 10 times out of 10 over a superior athlete like Browning / Cox / Moses etc...At LBr and S instincts are critical.

Ex. Carter, Jaylon, etc...

I agree about Bolton, but he is a 1st rd player, the other two are mid day 2 selections. Not every linebacker is going to possess elite instincts for the position, but they have to be athletic enough to play in space, which both certainly can do. What should help our linebackers now is a simplistic gap scheme.

Parsons and Collins are my only 2 1st round LBs...I've got Bolton and McGrone as 2s.

And I totally agree...they all won't have + instincts but I don't want to see it as a -.

Curious as to what we'd be doing at corner, but I like the idea of only taking 1 DB instead of 2 in the first three rounds, especially with Adebo late. He's got flaws in his game but could be a guy who excels in this type of system.

CB could be a place we find value in FA. Like of guys out there that could get cut
