If Denver just played in the SB and is no longer considered a contender, then what the hell does that make us with our annual Opie 500 tour?
exactly what we are, not even worth showing up.
Listen im not saying Denver has a chance but lets not think Indy, Pittsburgh, the Pats, possibly the Chiefs are going to sit idly by, put some brain cells together people. The age of parity is here and todays winners are tomorrows .500 teams and vice versa.
But lets not sit here and play kids games, that Seattle defense shut down that so called potent offense. End of story, check the final score. If any team gets it together in the AFC and puts up a solid defense, than thats something Denver is going to contend with.
I said it before ill write it down again, Seattle won because Denver did not play a defense like that all season. Did denver have a chance, yes, but their coaches failed as much as the players did that day and i wouldnt pin that loss on one said player or coach, but both sides failed. Call it whatever you want, but the score says one team won and the other didnt. Simple as that.
Can Denver be a contender, every one is within reason and like some posters here said before, lcak of injuries and get hot in december and you are in, see the Giants 07 season. If you cant see the parity, go see the Chiefs. A few bad teams, a few calls go their way and you go from bottom of the league to the top. Did i feel they were contenders? no, and they proved it true. Its not just wns and losses and saying "well those in teh SB in the prvious year are conteneders? Again no, go see the alst few winners.
It happens, football is set up for whoever plays better that day, not who is the better team. I have seen a great Dallas team lose to a bad Giants team and I seen a great giants team lose to a bad Dallas team , any given sunday, whoever happens to play better that day. That is it, no big secret. Do i feel Denver is a contender right now, no, signing Ware doesnt auitmatically make their defense better.
