As always, here’s a look at the two biggest matchups I have my eye on heading into this wildcard game.

Whoever handles these battles better should have a serious leg up in advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper vs. Seattle Seahawks CB Shaquill Griffin

The Cowboys played the Seahawks before Amari Cooper arrived in Dallas, so this will be the first meeting of the season since Cooper was traded.

Cooper is an accomplished route runner while Griffin is one of the best corners in the league when it comes to playing the position. Griffin will test Cooper when it comes to his release off the line. Griffin is a square player that shows the ability to use his hands and feet in order to maintain balance and positioning initially in the route.

Where receivers have had some success against Griffin has been at the top of the route. Griffin doesn’t have the power to hang in there when a receiver bullies him. This is how you get separation on him. Back in September, Allen Hurns was stuck in his route but kept fight up the field – then, just at the top of the route, he was able to shove Griffin off him and come back for the ball. It was just that split second that gave Hurns the space he needed for the reception. Cooper is physical enough to present the same type of issues for Griffin. But where Cooper is different than Hurns is that he can win much earlier in the route, which will put Griffin in chase mode.

Another noticeable thing about Griffin’s game is that he will play on both sides of the field. If opponents put multiple receivers on one side of the field, Griffin will walk over to play in coverage. He will also occasionally line up in the slot, so there is always that possibility of him going with your best receiver during the game.

This is a good matchup between two top 10 players at their position.

I believe Griffin is questionable for this game.

Bracket coverage. There's not a DB in the league who can cover Cooper 1-1 with any consistency.

Then it takes the seahawks out of their own defensive scheme and opens up areas for others to take advantage of.

....Coop gets double coverage now. I dont think Seachickens want to change that scenario. What I do see, is them blitzing the hell out of Dak. Leaving Gallup, Jaws & Bease one on one. Zeke will be pass blocking for sure.

hard to double team and blitz, someone will be wideopen. Seahawks I don't think will change much of what they do that got them to this point.

If Garrett/Linehan only use him like the last two games there's no need to cover him much......Our HC/OC is the best defense our opposition could have.

...duh. The issue is just whether or not Gallup & co. can make any play.s

Man coverage with safety help. Probably leave wagner or another LB to help cover inside routes.

It always takes me a second read to realize a thread is about Cooper. I always instinctively read Copper for some reason.

I doubt they change their defense is my point, they have played Rams and KC they are not going to change much for Dallas. Cooper will get that matchup and it will be up to him and Dak to make Seahawks pay

I'm guessing their plan is to overwhelm the Cowboys OL with blitzes and stunts and their secondary will sit on all the shorter routes.

both of us are very different teams then the first matchup, no one knows the gameplans , it will be total rematch...let them try and cover Cooper one on one, if Dak doesnt see this as an opportunity early and often to go ahead and just throw some up to him, hes lost, you have to break them off that plan bring safety over and then it will open up Zeke , Bease and Jarwin.. if we allow them to single cooper all game we are in trouble, they will load the box on Zeke, double Bease, and well it might shut this offense out ala the colts..

If the coaches dont have plan for this already lie offensive film room make sure everyone is aware of the plan should they try and follow Amari one on onme..Amari is almost always open even when double teamed, he for sure can break down even agreat corner with precise routes..we need to MAKE them bring help EARLY..I want to here KILL KILL KILL and leave the run play to a pass to Amri first play deep if they have a 1on1 over him playing man up..
