Florida U-Turn accident

I was going up 95 in New Haven, about to take the left exit for 1-91 (before they rebuilt it to the right side).
Suddenly in front of me were 2 cars, backing down the hammer lane because they missed their exit. Not just 1, but 2 people stupid enough to back up in the left lane of an interstate highway.

That might be the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
That's minor league stuff. I see that all the time. People backing up ramps. A normal person recognizes their mistake and goes forward. Not everyone. This is why paying attention to what's in front of you is of paramount importance. Or you end up dead like in the OP video.

Oh I've seen plenty of people backing up ramps, but backing down the fast lane, while people are going 65mph and using that lane to exit? I'm not talking about the shoulder, I'm talking about the left lane.

Now I see what you're saying. I don't believe I've ever seen someone backing up in a live lane on the highway. You said there were two. I'm guessing it was father and son.

I didn't catch who was driving them. The combined speed was probably about 90 mph. It always fascinates me that some people would rather risk lives than go to the next exit and turn around...even on a non-toll road.

The two of us could write a best seller on the moronic things we've seen.

You touched on an interesting topic. There is a segment of the driving public that does not consider alternatives. You'd think with GPS this wouldn't be a problem anymore.

If a bridge is closed, they'll either turn around and go home, or not travel at all if they know ahead of time. All while there are two other bridges leading to the same place.

If there is a 30-50 car line at a busy rest area gas station in the summer, people will continue lining up instead of just taking the next exit and finding a local station. Sometimes my job would be to block off a ramp, or even an entire roadway, and I'd have to call a state trooper because a person would refuse to leave. Imagine the mood of the trooper. I'll stop.
