Do we really trust McQuistan as the Protecter of 67.4 Million Dollars?
I would give him an operatunity to win the RT spot over Columbo but not LT. What do you guys think?

I think it's a big risk letting Flo go, but I'm not sure they will have a choice. They would have to be pretty high on Free or McQ. Neither one has the experience so I, like you, am very concerned about this situation.

I just have to trust that the coaches have a pretty good idea about the potential of Free. I think McQ is the most ready, but I think the coaches feel like Free will be the long term solution.

We are a Super Bowl Contender for at least the next 2-3 years with Romo and T.O and Barber Davis, and Gurode upfront. I just think that LT is too important especially with us having what appears to be franchise QB to take that type of risk. Can we Franchise Flozell to keep from having to give him a long term deal? Does anyone know or have we used it on another player cureently on the roster?

cowboys are known for letting players go and shifting the line around, i see this maybe happening after the season either with gurode or davis, and letting flo walk, he wants too much money a mediocre team is more than willing to pay to get them a better winning record but alas getting nowhere....that is flo's career, he can take his false starts with him, cowboys coaching staff wont miss them either....

No disrespect but that is rediculus to think that just because the coaches let flozell go that inherantly means that it was the right thing to do. We also spent alot of money on Vanderjact that wasn't the right thing to do obviously. If we had not given up on Peterman we wouldn't have needed to give Kozier 25 million over 5 years, If the big tackle from USC had worked we have needed to resign Columbo. We do alot of good things but Parcels get way the hell to much credit for building this roster. Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones overrode the Tuna on Several Key moves such as bringing T.O. to Dallas. We ahve a good thing going with adominant OL and we have the cap room to stand Pat so why screw with it?

Can we Franchise Flo? anyone know

If We can Franchise Flozell then the decision is easy. His franchise Number should be in the 7-8 Million range for the avg of the 5 highest paid LT. Thats Not bad because there is no signing bonus required when you franchise a player. That would buy us another year of time to develope Doug Free. It would also give us another year to evaluate McQuistan and give time for James Marten to mature as well

I agree I think he gets franchised and it gives us another year to develop McQ and Free and Determine if we need to address LT in the draft.

I wouldn't want to give him an opportunity over either Flo or Colombo.

And Free and Marten seem to be the future at both those positions.

McQ has been underwhelming to me every time he's played. I think he's the kind of guy that makes an invaluable swing guy as a back up. But as a starter... eh.

Flo will be franchised.

Will he be happy with that? Probably not.
Is the team happy with his holding/false start penalties every game? Probably not.

You just have to live with things sometimes.

I really really really don't understand the fan base's general desire to replace our Pro Bowl LT. With the addition of Leonard Davis at RG, we FINALLY have a Super Bowl caliber OL... and before the season's done, we're talking about replacing our ANCHOR in Flozell Adams. Unreal.

And for who? Do we have Walter Jones or Jonathan Ogden waiting in the wings? No... we have Pat McQuistan and Doug Free. Nothing against those guys... they seem to be developing nicely. But they are NOBODIES compared to Flozell Adams, who has PROVEN to be one of the top LTs in the NFL.

There's a reason LTs make as much money as they do... they are CRUCIAL to an offense's success. If we can afford to keep our elite LT onboard... why the hell should we consider an alternative?

I swear, some people just INSIST the grass is greener on the other side...

NAV I am with you. I want Flo back as well, I just don't want to tie up long term money on a 33 year Tackle. The non exclusive Franchise number for an OL in 2007 was $6,983,000. It was the same in 2006. I anticipate about a 10-15 increase at the most. so its likely to be 7,500,000 since backus signed a 6YR 40 million dollar deal. He's not the highest paid LT but his number will alter the avg of the top 5 salaries. Also Deilman(chargers), and Leonard Davis will move the Franchise # for 2008 as well. Always remeber the 3 things you always want to do.... Get better, Get Younger, and get Cheaper. signing Flo to a long term deal does none of these so the franchise makes since. But we may need to let columbo or Kozier go to afford a 7.5 2008 cap # for Flo

With Colombo hurting we should have McQ playing so we can evaluate him.
Right now we do not know enough about him to know. Free is good but McQ is the swing tackle and is ahead of him. He also has one more year in our system which is a big edge.

You bring up a valid point.

If Flozell is in it.....we keep him for two more years

Hmm....

pro bowler vs. complete unknown...

Hmm....

for the most part i agree with you but otoh maybe one of these backups really does look like he can get the job done. if that's ok, i'm alright with that...but let it be because of that, not because flozell gets a couple false start penalties that piss off some dumb unrealistic fans.
