Food for thought: NO & #2 pick

With Sean Payton now in New Orleans, do the Cowboys have an inside shot at the # 2 pick, via trade?
Honestly, what difference does his being there make? Would you expect some kind of preferential treatment?

another example of a thread that started with no real thought involved.
Have to laugh at all the man love for both Leinart and Young.
I PREDICT NEITHER will ever see the Pro Bowl.

Saints will take Young and TN will get Matt. My reason for thinking Young to the saints is Benson want's to move the team to TX prob in 07 and what better way to get instant TX fans than to have Young playing QB for them?

Apparently you haven't been watching the Lienart that I and the rest of the nation have been observing. He has excellent footwork for a college QB. I haven't seen a QB coming out of college with footwork like his with the exception of John Elway. He looks like an NFL QB in his drop and release. He has excellent timing and fundamentals. He has amazing accuracy and a strong arm. I would take him first overall. Young had a great game but he won't get away with playing like that in the NFL. Lienart's style of play is much more professional and his learning curve will be far faster than Young's in the NFL. And he is one of the greatest QB's to come out of college. He won 2 national championships and played in a third. He would have been the #1 pick in the draft last year and that's not even debateable since you won't find one professional journalist who would argue that Alex Smith would have been selected ahead of Lienart.

I wouldn't say he had the quickest footwork since John Elway (Marino, Vick, Peyton), but I agree with the rest of your post.

No way, Vince Young makes the runs that he did against USC in the NFL.

He'll need a few seasons to learn on the bench. The Titans seem to be the best team for him at this point.

35 years ago the Saints took with their first pick a scrambling QB from a southern school that had lit up his bowl game. And had had a great year as well. That QB then spent the next 8 or so years getting beaten to death before escaping- unfortunately not soon enough as by that time he was a shadow of his old self due to the poiunding he had taken. That pick was also due to the owner wanting an attendance draw. Same owner same thing this year?

No, it may make no difference at all, or Payton's knowledge of the Cowboys' thoughts on certain players may make a trade easier to accomplish, if the Saints were interested. I'm not in any way hinting that anything could happen, I just wanted to post the question to the board members to see what the consensus was.

Despite the lure of those high picks, many teams are tempted to move down, they more often than not cannot find teams interested in moving up.

Thank you though, for being the only one to respond to the original question.

With the Jedi Mind powers and the evil powers of being the Devil....bill should be able to convince Sean to trade us that #2 pick for Dexter Coakley...but first bill has to use all of his powers to get Dexter back to the cowboys.

wow, there are some fickle, uninformed "experts" out there then.
He hasn't been the best QB in college once during his 3 years, let alone "ever." Not saying he isn't any good, but c'mon. get off dude's nuts

Is Pete Hunter available? I heard the Steelers were looking to cut ties with Ben R. before sunday's game. Pete Hunter could shut down Rod Smith without the use of his hands. He's worth AT LEAST the #2 pick....

Show me where I predicted the future? The only thing I did was make a guess which QB would be taken
Actually I'm not talking at you directly, but for people say that Young won't survive and Leinhart will is idiotic. My point is, who knows?

The thing is the traditional person would basically say that the QB that has to do the least adapting to the NFL game is the QB most likely to succede. Leinart will have to do less adapting to the NFL then Young, so therefore hes more likely to be a success. Not sure I agree with that, but it is a logical way of thinking.

What part of " I seem to recall the experts say that" do you not understand? All 4 gameside analyst said it after the game. And almost every expert said it the next day also.

My question to all of you Young haters..... You say "Young wont make runs like he did against USC in the NFL" ... How do you expect Reggie Bush to? Reggie is quickly going to learn, NFL speed is way different than college speed collectively. Reggie Bush won't make those same cuts and jukes with ease like he did in college. How come nobody brings that up?

And Lienart does NOT have a very strong arm. You can watch his passes and tell. That is one thing Kiper said about him. He doesn't ever bullet the pass in to a reciever like he will need to, to succeed in the Pro's. Watch any game you want, and this will hold true.

That Pic looks more like a Bearded Dragon than a toad. And the NFL has said it will not move a team to LA it will be a new team that goes there. Benson Wants to move to the alamo dome, and prob would have in 06 but the NFL hounded him into staying.

BIG difference between being called the greatest COLLEGE QB ever and playing in the NFL. Everyone was hyped upped from his great performance and great year. Lienhart is more ready to step in before Young, in many EXPERT opinions. In my non-expert opinion, just my armcahir QB observance, I agree with them.

No you remember that incorrectly. All the mediea pple said they have never seen a performance like he turned in. They say that Vince maybe played the greatest game from a QB. Hes never been confused with a great Quarterback. He only flattened out his throwing motion this last offseason. Before that, his passes were more like flicked down field, not thrown. Hes come a long way and I think he will achieve greatness in the NFL. Hes a bigger faster Randall Cunningham.

If you also remember back to before last year, and all through the year last year, Every media person swung from Lienarts sack. He was the golden boy, all-american boy that could not lose a game. The Texas game and Reggie Bush proved that Bush and White were what made the trojans go and the Lienart was the lesser of the major pieces.

Not saying one is better then the others, but I personally like Brady Quinn over Lienart. I like Young over Quinn though. I like Bush about where I have Quinn.

The USC team was a rare combination of players coming together to do something magical. Make no mistake, even with the loss, that team will go down as one of the greatest teams ever in college ball, pitty Texas will get lost in the USC run and become overshadowed by the team they won the national championship from.
