Easy solution here.

1. Let JJ go and re-sign Barber to long term deal.

2. With the 4 first day picks next year get a CB, DT, WR, and RB. The RB should be a quick skatback type who can return kicks and catches passes well out of the backfield. Target him in the 2nd or 3rd round and team him with Barber. With Barber locked up longterm, I don't think we need a McFadden or Slaton. Now if we draft either, I won't be disappointed but I prefectly alright with Barber taking on a bigger role.

Its always good to have a 2 headed monster running attack in my book. With McFadden and Barber, we would definately push LT and Turner as the best RB combo in the NFL. Thats if Turner stays with them which i know he wont, but just saying.

4. I can't see how you can make a convincing argument that we're not going to need a player at CB next year, unless you don't want to draft one until the year we *need* to play him

I know we'll need a CB eventually, but we won't need a starter next year. Any CB we draft next year, won't win a starting job. Plus, IMO, there's not "Elite" CBs in the coming draft. King is the best one, but he's not "Elite".

I like McFadden and I would love to see him in a Cowboy uniform but, I am not certain that he will be a top 5 pick. He is certainly talented, there is no question of that but, I don't know if he is big enough. The question I would have is, can he be a 20 to 25 carry back in the NFL?

He weighs about 225 lbs. He's PLENTY big enough. Emmitt weighed like 210 when he first came out of college. I don't know if McFadden can or can't carry the ball 20-25 times, but his size certainly isn't a factor that would keep him from doing so.

I'll tell ya, a guy like Jamaal Charles of Texas, would be the same kind of complement and probably a lot cheaper.

Charles sucks. The guy has no "juevos" to run inside. I'd take Charles... in the 6th round, only cuz he might be able to be convinced that the boogie man does reside between the tackles.

But Charles is nowhere NEAR the same talent lvl as McFadden. Not even on the same planet. Hell, not even on the same plain of existence.

I've seen 205, 212, and 215, but I've never seen him listed at 225.

Plus, Emmitt was 5'9".

5'9" and 215 is a lot different than 6'2" and 215.

As evident in that Arkansas has lost four of its last five games dating to last season -- and the last three defeats came with McFadden banged up.
(In the Southeastern Conference title game last December, McFadden hurt his ankle early and the Hogs lost to Florida. He wasn't himself in the Capital One Bowl either -- a sprained shoulder bothered him early in the second half, and the Razorbacks lost to Wisconsin.)

Arkansas is running him too much.

McFadden isn't a soft player. At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, he's as punishing as he is fast. His toughness is unquestionable -- especially after last weekend's 33-carry, 195-yard effort.

I wonder if he is a 20-25 carry back myself. Few are nowadays.

Good point. But in Dallas, he wouldn't have to carry the load. I wouldn't even want him to.

Not when we have Marion The Barbarian on the team. :D
